"Padmé!" Ahsoka called, knocking on the Senator's chamber door. "There's something I need to tell you."

The door slid open elegantly, revealing the esteemed politician herself.

Padmé couldn't believe her eyes when she saw the young Togruta standing outside. "Ahsoka?" she breathed, stunned. "Is that you?"

"Yeah, it's me. Sorry for coming over unannounced, but-"

"Don't worry. What is it? Come in, I'll make us some tea."

"I'm very sorry to turn down the offer, Padmé, but we're running short on time. See, I had a vision a few hours ago, and it was about Anakin."

At the mention of her husband, Padmé froze. "What about him? Is he alright?" Judging by the grim look on Ahsoka's face, it didn't seem like it.

"He is for now, but not if we don't hurry." The former Padawan slid the door shut, turning off all electricity in the room. "I need to take all precautions as I don't know if there are any cameras secretly recording what we say," she explained. "But in that vision... Palpatine attempted to turn Anakin to the dark side. And he succeeded."

"No... no, he would never."

"He was trying to save you, Padmé. We all know that he needs to think rationally but his feelings often overpower his logic."

"I'm coming."

Without another word, Ahsoka turned the electricity flow back on and the two left the room.

"We're all set," Windu announced to the room. "Master Yoda is returning from Kashyyyk and will be here at any moment. Senator Amidala, are you ready? He will be able to sense your presence."

"If he can sense that I am there, so be it. I am ready to take on my part of the mission."

Mace nodded. "Then let's go. Ahsoka and Senator Amidala, you two head out first. The smaller groups we travel in, the better."

"Just to confirm," Kit Fisto asked, "we're meeting at the front of the Senate Building?"

"Yes, but mask your presence. This Sith is powerful and we cannot underestimate him. Let's go."

***

"Ah, Master Windu," the Chancellor greeted cordially. "I take it General Grievous has been destroyed? I must say you are here sooner than expected."

"In the name of the Galactic Senate of the Republic, you are under arrest, Chancellor."

"Are you threatening me, Master Jedi?"

"The Senate will decide your fate."

"I AM the Senate."

"Not yet."

Palpatine rose slowly from his chair, the hilt of a lightsaber appearing suddenly in his hand. "It's treason then," he said icily, before a blood-red blade made its appearance.

***

It was complete chaos; many well-respected Jedi Masters fell with a single swoop of Palpatine's lightsaber, while others were being shot down, one after another, by their former clone allies.

Anakin was due to rush in any moment now. Ahsoka and Padmé were both stationed at their spots, ready to go. For now, the objective was simple: let him sense just enough of their presence to recognize lie from reality.

***

The rest was foggy; not as clear. Whether it was Ahsoka censoring her memories slightly to make it more child-friendly, or she had really forgotten, Luke and Leia weren't sure, but they could make out the familiar face of Uncle Ani battling a figure clad in red robes, Ahsoka coming to Anakin's aid, and the Senator shouting at him to keep a clean mind, not to be brainwashed by Palpatine.

Eventually, Skywalker gained the upper hand, having figured out the old raisin's combat strategy and used it against him, which was an incredible feat. But it came at a cost. Sweat had already beaded on his forehead, and blood was flowing freely from the scars and gashes caused by the adversary's lightsabers. Palpatine was backed into the corner of the office, and he pleaded weakly with Anakin to let him stand trial, once again putting on the front of a desperate old man. Windu intervened, "No, my lord. I think your reign ends here."

And with the fall of the last syllable, Windu plunged his blade into Palpatine's heart, watching in morbid satisfaction as the late Chancellor's pupils rolled to the back of his head.

***

White, white and more white.

Ahsoka sat between two still figures, each arm cradling an newborn. The doctors had walked in hours ago, informing her that despite the fight Anakin had put up, the extent of his injuries had won, and was no longer with them. The Senator had been in the process of bringing two new lives onto the Galaxy, but had passed away soon after it was all over.

They knew. They knew they were dying, so in their hospital beds, Anakin and Padmé Skywalker said their goodbyes and joined hands for the final time - before the last rise and fall of their chests.

"Your mommy and daddy were the bravest people I've ever met," Ahsoka said to the twins softly, tears caressing her cheeks. "They're happy now, together."

***

Luke and Leia slowly drifted from the memories, youthful innocence gone. Their eyes sparkled with unshed tears, having seen war and the passing of their beloved parents too young. "I know I'm not Padmé, or Anakin," Ahsoka smiled sadly, "but I've done my best in taking care of you both these past ten years. You asked why every time you called me mummy, I would look sad. It was because your mother is no longer here, and neither is your father. Addressing me that way made me realize how empty it feels without them, and those memories resurface. You've been addressing me wrong. I am not your mum, I am your auntie. That was the last thing Anakin and Padmé - your rightful mother and father - told me before they passed away. But I treated you as my own children, and I will continue to do just that. Raise you. Adore you. I will protect you from the dangers and evils that lurks in this galaxy."

It was a lot to digest for the twins, but they understood the pain their auntie Ahsoka had gone through, the pain she held inside as to not traumatize them. But Luke and Leia was grateful for her and loved her. They would no matter what.
