Over the next couple of weeks, things seem to be doing good around La Push. While the boys were out for patrol, Emily and I started cooking lunch for them.
While we were cooking, there was a knock on the front door. I stopped what I was doing and grabbed a towel to wipe my hands off with. I opened the door to see Billy and Charlie there.
"Hi Billy, Charlie, please come in." I say. Charlie helps Billy with his wheel chair and they come in and sit at the table.
"So, I know this is going to be a lot to ask but, Bella is going to be coming here to Forks a little under a year. Is there anyway you would help make a connection with her and help her get comfortable here?" Charlie asks.
I instantly get pissed. There is no fucking way. "No. Not going to happen Charlie." I say. Standing up and going back to the counter to cut up fruit and veggies.
"Please Ariel. She will have no one and she is your cousin. Renee would appreciate it." He says.
I slam my knife down on the counter making them jump. "That fucking cunt can die for all I care. Listen Charlie I like you. You haven't done anything to me. Renee and Bella are not my family anymore. If you keep trying to push them onto me, you will not like the wrath I unleash. So kinda take this calm warning and do not let them anywhere near me. Ever." I say looking him straight in the eyes.
"I am sorry you feel that way Ariel." He says.
"There are some things you do not know about Charlie. If you were to ever find out you would understand why. Just do not try and force me onto her and do not force her to try and "make up" for what Renee did." I tell him.
I then look over at Billy and he is looking at me with sympathy. He knows the reason why I do not like Renee and Bella. More than likely Charlie asked him to come along for support but is not getting it.
They soon left and I started pacing the living room. It wasn't long until the boys came inside and saw me in my terrible head space. I was then brought out of his by Sam getting my attention.
"Pup. Are you okay?" He asked.
"No I'm not fucking okay. Charlie came over here and had the fucking nerve to ask me to help Bella get settled in when she moves here in less than a year." I yell and throw my hands in the air in frustration.
"Oh shit" Hercules says.
"Yeah oh shit. I told him that the fucking cunt Renee could die for all I cared. Like don't try and pull that family card shit on me. Fucking dick." I say.
I begin pacing back and forth getting more pissed the longer I think about those two and what Renee did to my mother. Nothing is calming me down at this point so Sam does the one thing that would. Even if it was in front of people.
He came up to me and pulled me close from behind. He then leaned down and licked my mating mark sinking his K-9's into it. His arms got tighter around me as he sucked on it. Damn he's good. After a few seconds he pulls back and gives it another lick and soft kiss before turning me around and giving me a soft kiss on the lips.
As he looks into my eyes I couldn't help but start tearing up. "It's not fair Sammy. Why would he ask. I don't want anything to do with them. They have hurt me enough and I just can't do it." I say burying my head into his chest.
"Shhh puppy. It's okay. You don't have to do anything you don't want to. I'm here for you Ariel. I'll support your decision 100%." He says holding me close and rocking me back and forth.
I eventually calmed down. We were all able to sit down and talk before the boys went back out for patrol. Emily and I did some cleaning around the house
Around 3 o'clock I heads a howl that I did not recognize. Maybe a new shifter. About 10 minutes later Hercules ran inside. "Hey we need you to come with us. This kid isn't calming down at all. Maybe you can help." He said.
I hurried and ran outside and jumped up on atlas while he was outside in the meadow. "Alright let's go boy." I say.
Atlas then takes off full speed following Pegasus and Hercules to the location of the new shifter.
When I got off of Atlas the boy started growling more. "Hi I'm Ariel. I know you are probably scared and freaked out but I need you to calm down and open your mind to me so I can connect with you." I say softly.
He starts to whimper and finally his mind opens. "Hi I'm Paul"
"Hi sweetie. I need you to think of yourself as human. Your fingers, toes, anything to help you change back."
After another 5 minutes he shifts back and we hand him some shorts. "It's nice to put a name to the face. Sam honey, I'll ride over and get the elders. Bring him back to our place." I say giving him a kiss on the cheek.
"Okay stay safe please." He says.
I quickly get the elders and they come over to the house. When I get there, Atlas goes back to the meadow and starts eating. I go inside and inform Emily what's happening and we go out back to the fire pit waiting for everyone.
Once everyone is there, we sit Paul down and begin explaining everything to him about the legends, imprinting, the treaty, and who Hercules and I am. He took it better than expected. It was all going well till he opened his mouth.
"If being a wolf means I get to be around your fine ass then I'll do whatever I have to." He says.
Oh gosh. Sam starts growling and his eyes flick over to his wolf.
Before I can say anything he throws me over his shoulder and takes me inside.
