Trust in Between (Continuation to "Not Like the Others")
Three months passed like a gust of breeze flying through the village and shaking the leaves away from its place on top of the trees. It felt fleeting and contradictingly dragging at the same time, a feeling the Dark Sovereign realized throughout the aforementioned span of time.
Rather begrudgingly, at least in Syndra's opinion, she and Irelia have found a semblance of rhythm in their daily lives. They still stayed in different rooms and maintained a fair amount of distance in between themselves whenever they're in the same room together.
But, what was certainly a noticeable change among the two of them was that Syndra had become relatively open to Irelia, mainly towards the matters concerning their daily morning and evening sessions of meditation.
Karmaʼs visits at their residence had become less common, which pleased Syndra in a way that she was still uncertain why yet would not dare admit to anyone in the first place. What mattered was that she was beginning to gain more of her power, and all that was thanks to the naivety Karma and Irelia showed when it came to decreasing the strength of her bindings.
The jealousy that seemingly bloomed inside her whenever she saw the Enlightened One was something she decided to push aside. She had no time for silly, little details of useless feelings. Such would not be able to aid her in any way for an escape.
At least, that's what she convinced herself to think every single day she remained there.
As of now, no one but herself was aware of how much she had managed to cultivate the limited power she wielded within. Not a single soul but her own knew how she could likely conjure up a sphere of dark magic, or maybe even two, to use for battle and destruction.
Of course Syndra withheld her frustration, especially whenever she tried creating more than one sphere.
One lesson she genuinely considered and actually took into account was Ireliaʼs explanation concerning her emotions and how much control it had over her magic. It was a reasonable theory and yes, she may have proved to herself that Irelia was indeed correct. Again, she kept that fact for herself.
The last thing she needed right now was for the Alpha she shared a roof with to be aware that she somewhat passed the level of just a mere watch. Irelia would likely feel all too comfortable in being more friendly with her.
Syndra's initially neutral demeanor turned into an expression of grimace, prompting Irelia, who was in the middle of making her way to the dark mage with a tray of white tea, to curiously raise her eyebrows at the sudden shift.
This was something Irelia always did whenever she and Syndra would meditate together. She wasn't certain if Syndra was aware, but the latter would sometimes murmur incomprehensible words whenever she ruminated.
Irelia had been taken out of focus when she first heard Syndra's mentioned murmurs, but rather than being annoyed or genuinely disturbed by it, her interest towards the Omega was piqued even further.
At times, whenever Irelia finished first with her morning meditation, she would open her eyes and watch Syndra across her. While she had two to three blades underneath her to keep her afloat in the middle of the session, Syndra levitated from the ground through her own power.
Initially, Irelia was in awe of seeing Syndra showcase her abilities up close. Not only that, but also in a non-destructive way. It was just the act of defying gravity, a feat that was considerably common in Runeterra, yet Irelia was entranced with how the mage looked so much in her element.
Syndra looked vulnerable yet at the same time immovable. Those were the moments Irelia looked forward to whenever they would do their morning and evening session sessions.
