"You can't die yet Mia!"

My limbs feel so sore, every bit of me aches an inhumanly amount and yet somehow against all odds my eyes flicker open. My eyelids rest on top my watery eyes with such weight that I'm surprised they haven't caved in to the back of my skull yet, but then again maybe they have. Clouds of large burnt debris cascade down towards me, some a dark grey whilst others a rich black so dark it looks like someone punched holes in the bright morning sky. Mesmerizing.

"Mia breath, I need you to breath" a voice echoes into the void that seems to do nothing but lingers in my mind "Max get the needle we have to do this now!"

I don't think I'm dead but I also don't think I'm alive, if limbo had a feeling I think this is exactly what it would feel like, not quite dead but definitely not entirely living either.

"Are you insane she could go into shock!"

"I wasn't asking Max"

"If she dies" Max pauses slightly "I'll come after anyone you have left, understand that"

Something hot and sort of sharp stings into my arm and-

"Breath breath it's okay you're safe"

It's as if the explosion I had just experienced happened all over again only this time inside of me. I jump onto her without a second thought brining her own knife to her throat, she instantly falls back breathing in sharply.

"MIA!" Max yell to me.

My heartbeat is insane. It's as if all the pain I was just drowning in had vanished, gone like it never existed, like I imagined it.

"LISTEN TO WHAT I HAVE TO SAY- JUST DON'T- MIA JUST LISTEN" she licks her parted lips as her breath goes wild. Her eyes never leave mine though, I only push deeper into the wound that clearly only just started to heal.

"I couldn't give less of a fuck about your reasons"

"I can help you take his army for yourself" she quickly says interrupting my train of thoughts.

"Are you fucking stupid?" I scoff.

I watch as she hesitates to speak again, intriguing me just like she wanted to from the very start "what!" I say through my gritted teeth.

She swallows thickly before her lips part once again "your mother is alive"

I don't know if i should slice her throat slowly or keep her awake while I peel every inch of her skin of her body, both are very tempting at this moment.

"I have proof"

"My mother is dead" I whisper as I feel myself suddenly begin to drain from the energy I once had.

"Mia stop being so blind just think!"

"I don't need to think. I watched as she drowned right in front of me that's not something a child would just forget" breath and forget just let it go, let it all go.

"Mia" well there's someone I didn't want to hear. I pull away from Levi giving my attention to Max whose stood just a few feet away from me. His eyes are wide and wild as if he has just ran from death itself mere seconds ago, I follow along his swings of different emotions that have now switched to complete sorrow, it's annoying "Mia"

"I heard you the first time, but apparently you didn't hear me" I twirl the odd blade in my hand feeling a sense of longing for my own "when I said I'd kill you if I ever saw you again, I wasn't kidding"

"I had no idea what Bane was doing you have to believe me"

"I don't- " I whisper almost breathlessly.

"Mi-MIA" everything slants sideways, my fuzzy vison becomes static to the point where I can feel it spread across my brain, it spreads across me faster than wildfire could.

"She's going into shock we need to go"

"Mia please hang on, please"

But I don't want to.

Before everything turns completely black I glance to where Nicholas should've been, key word should've. Instead, there's just Rayan lying face down with a thick layer of debris covering his whole body.

But where's Nicholas-
