"So, where are we going?"
"I don't know. Let's just walk." Claire replied. "Do you have work after school?"
"Yeah."
After that, they settled into a comfortable silence. Claire was just thinking of a gazillion questions that she wanted to ask him but she didn't know whether she still had to use a slow and steady approach, or if she could just drown him in questions now that they had met.
Adrian was thinking about what was going on. He was still wondering what made her leave school and cry against a tree.
"Are you hungry?" Adrian asked as they reached the middle of the town with a line of mini food places.
"Sure, let's grab a bite. Where do you wanna go?"
"Let's just go in here." He said, pointing at the grill in front of them.
'Alan's Grill' was a place Claire came to a couple of times in the past with her family. She didn't really remember much of it, but agreed to eat there anyways.
They sat down at a booth and a waiter immediately came and took their order.
After ordering, they were both sitting quietly and still wondering."That bracelet," Claire started. "Is it Emily's?" She asked. The bracelet on his wrist had blue, worn out string and had a metal plate in the middle with the letters of Emily's name carved into it.
Adrian's gaze went to the bracelet and he smiled. "Yeah, it's hers. I gave it to her on her 11th birthday and she wore it every single day after that. On that day though, she left it beside the letter. And now I wear it every single day."
Claire smiled at him. He didn't seem like how he sounded in his letters. The letters never really gave Claire a chance to observe emotions other than depression from Adrian.
"That's re-"
"Claire?" A voice interrupted hers and her head snapped up to the sound.
Her muscles tensed and all that she had been thinking seemed to have disappeared. Her eyes flickered to Adrian and then to the woman who interrupted her. She seemed to struggle with how to approach the situation.
She offered a weak smile to Adrian before deciding to introduce the two for Adrian's sake. "Um, Adrian, this is Diana, my mother."
