  She hunched her shoulders together and covered her head with her arms. When the second bottle made contact with her shoulder, it broke to pieces; the unexpected force almost made her lose her balance and step into the mess of broken glass from the first bottle.

  "You f***ing shou-" He instantly quieted down as he heard steps coming up the driveway. The walls weren't the thickest, so the footsteps were highly audible.

  As the steps got closer, her already frantically beating heart started beating quick for a different reason.

  Who could that be? Why is there someone coming up to our door? No one ever comes over.

  There were two light knocks on the door before a pause. And then her rapid heartbeat immediately dropped as the person on the other side started speaking.

  "Claire? It's Adrian, you were gone when I woke up and I just wanted to check if you got home okay."
