DENISE’S POV

“You seem so different these past few days, you alright?” Vincent asked me while we were walking towards the Quadri Park. Lagi nalang sinasabi sa akin ni Vincent na ang tahimik ko, and I’m not usually this.

“Okay lang talaga ako, don’t worry. I’m just toxic these past few days, sobrang hassle rin kasi ng sched. Pero, okay lang ako.”

“Natatakot ako sa mga Okay lang mo eh. Most likely when you say that you’re not fine. Hay nako, mga babae, reverse psychology. I’ve been your bestfriemd since.. Grade 2? Tapos ganyan sasagot mo sakin? I know you well, Denise.”

“Toxic nga lang.”

“Okay, hindi na kita kukulitin kasi baka kung ano pang masabi mo. So, where were you the other day? Bigla ka nalang nagdisappear samin ni Jeric sa Wendy’s. I didn’t even noticed you walking out the door.”

“May inasikaso lang. Masyado ka ata kasing nakatutok sa new friend mo eh, kaya di mo ko napansin.”

“Grabe, hindi naman. I just want to meet new people, that’s why.. Nagselos ka naman. He’s a good man though, anong masasabi mo? Hindi mo man lang siya inimik. Tsk tsk.”

“Uh, masasabi ko?”

“Oo, sakanya. Siguro crush mo noh? Dalaga na talaga bestfriend ko!” pangaasar ni Vincent.

“OA ka. Crush agad?!”

“Bakit, gwapo naman yun ah!”

“Yuck Vincent, nababakla ka na ba. -___-“

“Bakla agad?! Pero di nga, anong tingin mo sakanya?”

“Hm, okay lang. Neutral. How well do you know him ba?”

“Nothing more than his name. We’ll be there,makikilala ko rin siya. By the way, sabay na tayo umuwi, mag-gagabi na rin oh. Baka pagalitan pa ko ni tita na hindi kita hinatid.”

“Di yan, I can go home. Maabala pa kita.”

“Alam mo, hindi ka pa rin nagbago, masyado ka pa ring sentimental. Huwag ka na nga madrama, dadating din SIYA wag kang atat.”

“Wala po akong inaantay.”

“Sus, reasons!”

Vincent is really a bastard gayunpaman mahal na mahal ko ‘yan because he’s been there for me kahit anong mangyari. Kahit ano pa atang karahasan ang dumating sa buhay ko, kung masasalo niya siguro ang bawat sakit na nararamdaman ko, gagawin niya eh.

We dropped by Main building, pero I told him that I won’t enter anymore. Aantayin ko nalang siya sa Plaza mayor since, wala namang nakaupo dun. It was a silent UST that day. Palubog na rin ang araw, pero may mga nagpapractice pa rin nung mga sayaw sa Plaza Mayor. Sometimes, I hate sitting down alone here, puro nalang group of friends at couples nasasaksihan ko dito eh.

I was patiently waiting here, when a cute kid approached me. I don’t know why or how did he even get in here the campus, but he approached me. Parang nga nawawala siya, I was so worried, because he might be lost in big place. Pero, parang ‘di naman siya umiiyak.

“Si Ate Denise ka po ba?” the child asked unknowingly.

“Yes. Nawawala ka ba? Ano gusto mo?” I told him. But the child didn’t respond na parang may tinitingnan sa paligid niya. He just gave me a short folder, tapos tumakbo na rin siya papalayo. I checked what’s inside the folder. There was a message.

I don’t need a perfect relationship, I just need someone who won’t give up on me.

I don’t know why my first reaction was to look around kung kanino galing. But I can’t see any familiar face, so I was still wondering where that came from. I checked the time. Vincent’s almost insde for 15 minutes, ang tagal naman niya. Nabobother na ko dito sa labas, madilim na rin kaya. I looked around once again to see any signs of Vincent. Pero wala. When I looked to my left, I saw a guy standing three to four feet away from me.
