Chapter 42

DENISE’S POV

The sound of my alarm clock woke me up in this gloomy morning. Actually, why did my alarm clock sounded? I thought it’s a weekend. I should be sleeping the whole day. I hit the alarm clock so it could shut up. I looked for my phone, still closed eyes, and looked at the time. It’s only 9:45 am. (Yes, that’s just too early for a weekend.) I was about to shut my eyes again and go to dreamland when I suddenly remembered today’s the UAAP Athlete’s Night na kahapon pa kinukulit ni Kiefer.

Fail. Hindi pa ako nagpapaalam. Wala pa akong isusuot and everything. Last miunte plans are really not good.

I stood from my bed, washed my face, took a brush and tied my hair into a messy bun. I ran down stairs finding my mom eating breakfast.

“Where’s everyone?”I asked.

“They took a jog.”

“Wow, nagjojogging, di man lang ako inaya.”

“Gigisingin ka dapat ng daddy mo, kaso tulog mantika ka raw.”

“Grabe naman maka-describe.”I said while fixing myself some hot choco.

I sat down across my mom and said, “Uhh, Ma, I’m going out tonight.”

“O, san ka nanaman pupunta, buong linggo ka na nga wala.”

“There’s this athlete’s night later at Sofitel.” I said.

“Athlete ka na ngayon?”

“Ma naman! Siyempre, niyaya lang ako diba.”

“Nino?”Mom asked.

“Ni Kiefer.”I answered.

“What’s with you and Kiefer, Denise?”

“Wala po. Friends.”

“Friends? But you’re most likely with him than Jeric?”

“I don’t wanna talk about him, Ma.”

“It doesn’t mean that Jeric’s not here you’ll—“

“Ma, Jeric’s back. He’s here.”

“Then why didn’t he asked you?”Mom said.

“I don’t know, well probably you should go ask him.”

“Is there something wrong?”

“Maybe the question you should ask if there’s still something right?”

“Whatever it is, malalagpasan nyo din yan.”

“Ma, I don’t wanna talk about it first, I’m just asking if I could go later sa UAAP Night?”

She stood and fixed something in the kitchen, then turned to me, “May magagawa pa ba ako, kung nandito na ‘to.” She said and handed me a box.

I took the box from her giftwrapped in pink with a neon pink card saying:

See you later. Pick you up at 6. –K.

I smiled at the note, may ganito pa kasi siyang nalalaman. Arte lang. J

“O, ano yang mga ngiti na yan.” Mom said.

“Walaaaaa. Nakakatawa lang kasi.”

“Natatawa k aba talaga o kinikilig?”Mom teased.

“Bye Maaaaaaaaaaaaa.”I avoided her and ran up to my room.

I opened the box and found a pink cute dress with some pink shoes on it. May kasama pang black earrings and black necklace. Infairness, fit yung shoes and sakto yung dress. Kelan pa naging mananahi si Kiefer?
