After arguing with Sam, I agreed to leave with Jenna to get the baby out while he stayed behind and distracted the rabids. We had almost made it out when we were stopped by Mike, who'd become rabid.

"Come on," I groaned.

"The baby," Mike looked at his son in Jenna's arms.

"No," she shook her head.

"The baby," he repeated.

"No," I echoed. "We're not gonna hurt you, Mike. As long as you leave that baby alone. Mike."

"Amos."

"What?"

"His name... is Amos."

With that, Mike keeled over, dead. I put a hand on the small of Jenna's back, shepherding her out of the hospital and over to the Impala. Once we were 40 miles outside of town, we finally pulled over at a gas station.

"Oh, you good?" I asked her.

"Yeah. Baby. Poop. What could go wrong?"

"Godspeed."

"I have no idea what I'm doing," she admitted.

"If you wanted, I could do it. I've got two kids of my own back home."

"N-no. I got it."

"Right," I nodded. "Listen, I know things seem dark right now- hell, call it pitch-black. And you may not be able to see it, but your way back is right there. You and him. You're gonna help each other."

"Joy comes in the morning," she smiled down at Amos, then looked at me. "My grandma leads a Bible study."

"Ah, well, let's go with that."

She reached into the backseat, grabbing the diaper bag and heading into the gas station while I pulled out my phone.

"Hey, you good?" Sam asked me.

"Yeah, about 40 miles outside of town. As far as I can tell, it's isolated to Superior."

"Well, that's something."

"How about you? You okay?"

"What'd you expect? Like it or not, I'm gonna find a cure."

"Yeah, I know you are," I sighed. " Man, things are screwy right now. I know we don't have any answers, but at least we got one win, you know?"

"I hear you."

"Alright, I'm gonna run Jenna up to her grandmother's. Shouldn't be more than a few hours. Then we can clean up that town. We get Dean, and we find the Darkness, and we kick his ass."

"Yeah, that's great, Ellie. That, um... sounds like a plan."

"If you're as bad as they say you are, why haven't you hurt me?" I asked the Darkness.

"For the same reason you'll never hurt me," he replied, pulling up his sleeve to show the Mark of Cain on his wrist. "We're bound, Eleanor. We'll always be bound. You helped me. I helped you. No matter where I am, who I am... We will always help each other."

Several hours later, I was pulling the Impala into Jenna's grandmother's driveway and we climbed out with Amos.

"Well, nice neighborhood," I said.

"Yeah," Jenna nodded. "I pretty much grew up here. Learned how to ride my bike down the road. Had my first kiss at that blue house over there. Lost my virginity up there."
