after finishing your work for the night, you decided to get some food since you were hungry and because none of the dining halls on campus were open. you left campus to go to your usual fast food place, which surprisingly wasn't that busy as you got into the drive-thru line.

you had already figured out what you wanted to get and ordered your food once you could, which was just something small since you remembered you had a bag of snacks to finish in your dorm.

"your total will be eight dollars, pull up to the next window please," the employee instructed you.

you drove your car to the window and grabbed some cash from your cup holder. you handed the cash to cashier, who gave you your receipt and change.

"you can pull up to the next window," the cashier instructed and you nodded.

"thank you," you said before driving to the next window, waiting for the person to hand you your food and drink. you skipped over a few songs on your phone while waiting.

"y/n?"

you looked over and saw one of your classmates from one of your seminar classes, dokyeom. he was wearing the fast food joint's tacky uniform and stared at you in confusion.

"dokyeom? you work here?" you immediately asked him.

"uh yea," he laughed, "i need money," he added while holding out a paper bag to you, "here." small spots of grease were visible on the paper bag.

"thanks," you replied and took the bag from him. you placed the paper bag in the passenger seat and looked back at dokyeom, who was holding a small cup this time. "it's diet? right?" you asked him as you took the cup from him.

"diet? you got a diet soda? gross!" he immediately responded in disgust.

you rolled your eyes at him. "i didn't come here to get ridiculed by you," you said and put the cup in the cup holder.

"hey, are you still going to seungcheol's tomorrow night?" he asked.

"yea, i'll be there," you nodded with your reply. "gonna be there late though. i have a project to finish," you mentioned.

dokyeom leaned against the window, "no worries. it's gonna last awhile anyways. his parties always do," he said with a smile. "you know you're holding up the line, right?" he asked.

you rolled your eyes again. "it's your fault for talking to me!" you replied. "bye."

he laughed, "bye."

you drove off and closed your window. at the traffic light, you grabbed the straw from the bag and unwrapped it before stabbing it through the top of the cup. you picked up the drink and took a sip.

"this isn't diet!"
