while watching a video on your laptop, you glanced at the corner of your screen to check the time and gasped.

"what?" mingyu asked you.

you paused the video that you were watching and threw the blanket that was barely covering you off. then, you picked up your laptop and put it on the bed.

"what are you doing?" mingyu asked as you suddenly got on top of him. he held his phone out of the way to raise his eyebrow at you.

"hang on," you said to him while looking at the time on your laptop, which was right beside you two.

mingyu just chuckled and sat up while putting his phone down on the nightstand. he put his hands on your hips as you waited for the date and for the time to change.

you don't even bother to watch the last second hit and turned your head to face mingyu. you grabbed him and kissed him on the lips.

"happy birthday," you said to him while smiling.

mingyu kissed you again, "thank you, baby," he said. "you should just kiss me at midnight every night," he suggested.

"oh gladly," you said to him. "by any chance, would you like your birthday cake?" you asked him.

"when did you get me a cake?" he asked, tilting his head and scrunching up his eyebrows a little bit. he had cooked dinner, which meant that he opened the fridge to grab stuff earlier. "you put it in the fridge?" he asked.

"i got it before i came home. it's behind the leftovers," you mentioned with a smile. "come on," you said and tried to get off of him.

"hang on, hang on," he said to you, pulling you back. he reached in and kissed you again. "you gonna sing to me?" he asked.

"in your dreams," you replied as both of you got up from his bed.

"i'll make you."

"no."

"yes."

"no."

"happy birthday to you. happy birthday to you. happy birthday dear mingyu. happy birthday to you."

"that sounded so depressing."

you rolled your eyes, "eat your damn cake and stop complaining," you said to him and gently took the candle out of small cake you had gotten him. you set the candle down on a paper towel that you had brought with you.

the two of you were sitting on your balcony. plenty of lights were still on since it was the weekend, but it was still pretty quiet outside in your neighborhood.

"here," mingyu said and fed you a piece of cake. "good?" he asked.

you nodded. "i would hope it's good. it's your favorite flavor from that one bakery," you said to him.

"nah, it isn't."

you raised your eyebrows, "it isn't? mingyu why didn't you tell me?"

he smiled, "i only like it cause you're the one who buys me it."

"kim mingyu! stop being so cheesy!"

"kim y/n, stop being my adorable wife."

"i'm going to hit you."

"hey, not with the cake in my hands. it could fly off the balcony."
