orange and yellow flames surrounded you, as if they were going to engulf you. however, a clear circle surrounds you, blocking the flames from hitting you.

but you wished that the giant flames would engulf you.

you could barely feel your own body, it was as if you had stared into medusa's eyes and were turned to stone. you felt like a statue, but you weren't a statue.

your ability to produce flames was a god given gift. a gift that you definitely did not ask for.

you were an outcast in your small town. the child who was always feared by the other children. you eventually moved away, living in another tiny town after finishing university.

trees disintegrated in front of you, leaves and branches turning into ash that flew into the air.

why?

"are you okay?"

you jumped, hearing another voice. you looked to the side and saw a man standing within the protected circle.

"did you do you this?" he asked, looking around at the damage that was occurring from your ability.

"who are you?" you asked him.

"oh, my name is joshua," he introduced himself and held his hand out, but you did not shake his hand. he awkwardly brought his hand back. "god gave you a destructive gift. how dare he give a gentle soul like you something so scary. he should've given it to someone else," he sighed, "i might have to punch zeus later," he muttered clear enough for you to understand and snapped his fingers.

a wave of water immediately flooded the area, but the circle around you two was protected so it never hit you two. instead, the water put out the fires you had caused, letting steam emit. the ground and remaining tree trunks were charred black from your doing.

"i'm...i'm not the only one?" you questioned.

he chuckled, "not even close, silly," he answered with a voice sweet as honey. "shall we go?" he asked, holding his hand out again.

"where?"

"well, i don't think being in the forest you almost burned down has good energy," he commented while looking around before looking at you, "but i did walk here, so we're gonna have to walk out of here at least."

although hesitant, you walked with him, guiding him out of the forest since you knew the area after walking around since you moved to the new town. you examined the damage you had done, upset at yourself for destroying such a beautiful area. once you reached the entrance you usually used with joshua next to you, you were met with a group of guys, who looked like they were waiting for you and joshua.

"these are my friends," joshua mentioned as you stood there. "hey, seungcheol, it was really mean of you to give her fire," he said to one of the men.

"blame zeus himself, not his reincarnation," one of them replied with a clear whine.

"hey," joshua called out to you, and you looked at him, "if you want to come with us, we can go get a bite of eat and explain everything," he offered.

you thought for barely a moment before nodding your head in agreement, wanting to learn everything you could about yourself, but also about joshua and his friends.

"okay, let's go."
