As Laura escorted Her Royal Highness Princess Avaria towards the Golden Velvet Room, butler Lester was following behind, together with a few trusted knights.

As they walked to the room, Princess Avaria could not help but squint as her pale yellow eyes roamed around the halls.

It had been quite some time since her last visit at the estate.

She never dared go without prior notice or whenever the duke was not around.

However, today was definitely different.

Besides, in her mind, she never regarded the duchess as the rightful other half of the duke nor the equal master of the estate.

Thus, she didn't really care whether Duchess Atallie would be offended at all or not.

In her eyes, Atallie was just an insignificant discarded pawn.

Princess Avaria was fully aware of Atallie's background. She knew how her father used her as a pawn to claw his way into the soil of the Royal City.

For a mere small plot of land, her father didn't hesitate to throw her aside and pushed her into unknown yet certain danger and destruction.

A pity, as Princess Avaria thought.

But certainly, there was no sympathy or empathy that she could spare for a mere illegitimate daughter of a small and nameless count from who knows where faraway land.

She knew that if it were not for a coincidental luck of Atallie's mother who had met the duke's mother before, in which resulted, for some reason or fate, an engagement agreement, the country bumpkin nobody would have not been able to see the better light of the day.

Tsk. What luck?

Princess Avaria sneered as she thought about it.

Not long after, they finally arrived in front of a meticulously carved door.

The design of this door was particularly eye-catching and different among all the other doors that Princess Avaria saw as they walked.

Laura stepped forward, but she was careful to not stand in the way of the princess as she called out, "Her Royal Highness is here, Your Grace."

A soft yet firm and monotonous voice was heard from inside, "Come in."

At this moment, Princess Avaria just truly wanted to know what was with the room and what could the duchess be up to.

Lester slowly opened the door and stepped aside with a bow.

Princess Avaria lifted her foot one at a time and entered. Laura followed after, then Lester. The few knights were standing guard right outside the door.

At first glance, her pale yellow eyes were beaming with sharp glint as they roamed around the room, looking for something.

It was said that the Golden Velvet Room was preserved and reserved as an exclusive drawing room for the former masters of the house, the former duke and duchess, who were the deceased parents of the current duke, Duke Calex. Thus, it was never opened for any visitors, even the royalties, especially for the royalties, perhaps.

It was also said that a huge portrait of the duke and the duchess, together with the young Calex was hung in the middle of the room. That its frame was made of pure gold and embedded precious stones. It was even imbued with magic so that no strain or dust or dirt could affect the beauty of the portrait.

What more, the former insignia or symbol of the house of the duke could also be seen inside the room. As what the rumors said.

However, as Princess Avaria scanned the room, she found nothing.
