Takemichi walked back and forth in his living room with a finger to his chin as he fell deep into thought. His shoulders were squared and tensed, and his steps were slow as he daydreamed. His thoughts ran rampant and wild, a jumbled mess that only focused on a single subject.

That subject being none other than the Yaksha living in his home.

Snapping out of his thoughts, his foot hovered in the air for a moment as his face angled in the direction of the girl. He lightly placed his foot on the ground and stopped pacing, his hand letting go of his chin and falling down to his side. [ Name ] was blind to his internal dilemma as she fully engaged herself in the book she was reading, absorbed with the words on the page seeing as her world didn't have as many genres as the ones in this world.

He stared and stared, his eyes glancing over her shoes and outfit to her face and features that made her so different.

He couldn't help but think about how reliable she was, and the fact that she actually came to help when he called out her name was so incredible. He was lucky to have someone like her in his life; her presence in itself was a blessing.

But he also couldn't help but think about how she was fated to die a horrific, unsolved death. The stars in her eyes would be snuffed away and her cold body would lay motionless, unable to perform the duties she was so devoted to.

His eyes unintentionally started to water at the thought. He was beginning to care too much about her, beginning to see her as more than just an interesting stranger here to potentially save his homeland. His gaze was one that was looking at a member of his family. Like she was an elder sister.

And although they bickered, he loved her. He didn't want her to die, she's been nothing but caring to him. He's sure this was what having a sibling must be like. To always fight and argue, but still at the end of the day be down to do anything for the other and would protect them at any cost.

Finally acknowledging the lack of movement and the distracted eyes on her, she lowered the book slightly and tilted her gaze upwards.

"Hey, are you okay?" She asked with a quirked eyebrow.

Takemichi's breath caught in his throat as her voice registered in his mind, quick to focus on her worried look. He took a step towards her and sucked in a shaky breath.

"[ Name ], listen to me," he said through a voice crack.

His hand quickly shot up towards his face and swiped under his eye to catch a heavy tear from falling. The sight made [ Name ] sit up straighter, concern twinging the slightest in her face.

"Whenever you're in trouble, call out my name. I'll come to help you too, okay?" Takemichi said, sniffling loudly with closed eyes before he looked back at her with a serious expression.

"That's..."

[ Name ] looked down for a second in silence before she shook her head to herself. She looked up and showed him a small smile.

"Alright, I will."

He leaned in aggressively close, his eyebrows furrowing and almost touching as emotion overwhelmed him.

"Promise me," he demanded.

"But—"

"Just promise!"

At his command, she closed her eyes and sighed softly before nodding her head. Her hand placed flat against her chest, an action he's noticed she does when she wants to show her unrivaled sincerity and dedication.

"I swear to you. I will call out your name if I'm ever in need of your assistance," she said, speaking with a firm voice that reassured Takemichi with no room for doubt.
