I had gotten an urgent message from the Crystal Cliffs. Gem.

The capital of the Crystal Cliffs, Azurite, only has two hospitals. Well, ok, one's technically an apothecary but still. The apothecary is for checkups and whatnot while the hospital is for emergency. I was stunned Gem was in the hospital.

I flew there as soon as I could.

The nurses led me to her room. Inside she was lying in a hospital bed, her eyes closed. I grabbed my sister's hand, but it was cold...

"What happened?" I asked.

"We have no idea. The students of the Crystal Cliffs academy said they saw two elves enter the building with the Wizard. They heard a noise and entered the classroom all three of them were in. Gemini fainted almost as soon as they entered, and two figures jumped from the shattered window." One of the nurses explained.

There were only two people those elves could be. I shook Gem lightly, hoping to wake her up. She stirred and her eyes fluttered open. I realized one was much paler than the other.

"Fwhip?" she asked faintly.

"Gem- Gem who did this to you?" I asked. Gem bit her lip but she didn't answer. "Gem, tell me." I said sterner. "Gem, did Scott do this?" I asked.

Gem's eyes filled with tears that began to freeze the moment they fell. "It was an accident!" she cried. "He didn't mean for it to happen. Erin had brought him; I was trying to teach him how to control it and he got frustrated!"

I felt my face contort in rage. I didn't care if it was an accident. They hurt her. I wouldn't put it past that Major girl to have planned this all out. She hated all of us. It was probably to get revenge on what had happened during the tests a few months ago.

Gem broke into a coughing fit as I tried to help her sit up. "I'm calling Katherine, now." I said.

I sent her a raven and she was here within the hour. "What's happening?" she asked.

"Scott froze Gem." I growled.

"What?" Katherine half shrieked. I brought her to Gem's room. She had managed to sit up. "GEM WHAT?"

I made Gem explain what had happened. Katherine's face paled. "This explains the overheating." She said breathlessly. "And his temperature."

"What are you talking about?" I asked.

"When he was a teenager, he was super stressed out. His parents brought him to the Overgrown. His skin was frigid, and his temperature was way, way below normal. I talked everything out with him, and it went back to normal! This explains everything!" Katherine said with wide eyes.

"I don't care if Scott was a snowman when he was a kid! Fix her!" I snapped.

Katherine spent a long-time examining, Gem. Much longer than I would have liked it to take. I spent my time pacing the length of the room until...

"I don't think there's anything I can do..." Katherine sighed. "This is beyond my knowledge of magic."

"It's ok Katherine, you've done enough." Gem said with a weak smile. She shivered. "I'm just a little cold."

"Gem, it's not even remotely cold in here!" I said and wrapped my coat around her shoulders.

"I'll be fine. I'm sure it'll wear off." She said and tried to stand up.

"No, you need to rest." I said and stopped her from standing.

"But-" she started.

"Buh, buh, buh. Rest." I said.

"Fine." She sighed exasperatedly. "But Fwhip...it really was an accident. Don't do anything you'll regret."

"Ok, I won't." I said and Gem gave me a small smile as I stepped out of the room.

I was right. I wasn't going to do anything I will regret... I wonder how Rivendale would look with a few of my favorite things. Explosives.

I met Sausage in the Iron Wolf Tavern in Mythland.

"Those elves did WHAT?" Sausage said when he heard what had happened.

"Yes, they were messing around with magic and now Gem is sick and hurt." I said angrily. They were going to pay.

"But why would Scott hurt her? I thought he was that god's champion." Sausage asked.

"I don't know, but that's why we're going to Rivendale." I growled.

We took my plane. I'm so glad the rule has changed. Rivendale was worse than the last time I saw it. Everything was coated in ice, snow and whatnot.

"Jesus, who dropped a bomb here?" Sausage asked.

"Me in a little bit." I said. We walked up to the palace, trying not to slip on the slick ground. I banged on the door, but it creaked open. Creepy.

I opened It and stepped inside the entrance hall. None of the lights were on and it was as cold inside as it was outside.

"You take the left wing; I'll take the right." I told Sausage. Sausage nodded and took off. I climbed up the staircase to the library. Nothing. Books were scattered everywhere as if someone had searched quickly for something. I checked the hall filled with bedrooms and bathrooms, nothing.

The main bedroom, Scott's, was a mess. Clothes everywhere, ice too. Objects strewn across the floor. Whoever left here left in a hurry.

Me and Sausage met back in the entrance hall. He shook his head when he saw me.

"One more place left to look." I said and opened the doors to the throne room. That's when I saw what made me positive, he had left. The crown, sitting on the throne. "He's gone." I said and picked the crown up. "And it doesn't look like he's coming back anytime soon." I threw the crown into the bag of "goodies" I had brought.

"Probably to escape justice!" Sausage said dramatically. "Anywhere else we can check?"

"There is one more place I want to look..." I said. "After we make a few adjustments to the palace. Also, the Grimlands has an embassy here..." a wicked grin crossed my face.

"Are you gonna blow up that embassy?" Sausage asked quickly.

"What? Pfft no." I said. "It's a trap. He goes in and then it blows up."

"Oh," Sausage tapped the side of his head. "Smart. Also, doesn't Erin have a shack around here? We should check there. Maybe that's where they're hiding out. If not, we can "trap" that too."

"They won't know what hit them." I smirked.

"They will." Sausage said. "It will be a load of TNT."
