CHAPTER ONE
a wedding

⋆. ────────── ꕥ ────────── .⋆

"Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks, do you take Remus John Lupin as your legal husband?"

Juniper watched from behind Nymphadora as the two of them tied to knot. It had been a sudden wedding. With the war going on, they hadn't had time to buy stuff and the only people present were June, Charlie, Andromeda, Ted, Sirius and Aiden.

Sirius stood behind Remus as he was the Best Man. He had given Remus one of his fancy robes while June and Nymphadora had searched for a white dress in their wardrobes. They had come up with a long white summer dress from June but with little adjustments, it fitted Nymphadora perfectly.

"I do," June heard her sister say. Her hair was the brightest pink she'd ever seen.

"Remus John Lupin, do you take Nymphadora Andromeda Tonks as your legal wife?"

Remus smiled and his eyes softened as he looked down at Nymphadora. "I do."

"Bring forth the rings," the priest said, gesturing for June to come closer.

Apart from being Maid of Honor, June was also the ring bearer. She handed the small ring to Remus while giving the other, larger one to Nymphadora.

As soon as they put each others ring on, the priest continued, "I now declare you husband and wife. You may kiss your bride."

June smiled as she saw the happy couple kiss. She'd never seen either of them happier than today. The black haired woman could only hope it lasted forever. But then she realised, in war, nothing lasted forever.

Afterwards, there was a small party in the backyard of Tonks Manor. June tapped with her food on the music as she watched the others dance.

"C'mon," Charlie said, offering her his hand. "Do me the honor of a dance with you."

"Fine," June sighed, taking his hand. "One dance."

Charlie pulled her up with him and twirled her around. June couldn't help but to laugh. Dark times were upon them, but somehow, Charlie Weasley could make June feel like every single one of her worries were gone.

He smiled down at her—he'd missed her laugh.

June noticed this and immediately, her smile disappeared. She felt guilty for laughing. Liam's death was still fresh in her mind.

"Don't do that," Charlie murmured, as they were half dancing, half hugging each other. "It wasn't your fault."

"It was—"

Charlie pressed her closer to him. "It wasn't. We need to look forward now. We need to keep our mind in the game. We need to keep each other safe."
