—chapter twenty-nine | Cold Blood.

—THEY HAD REACHED COMMON GROUND. They had decided they would live in places on earth where humans couldn't live. Nasreen took some reassuring but they got there in the end. Eve held her hands out with a smile, she sat between the two girls. "We got it."

"Oh, yeah!" Amy smiled when clapping echoed through the room. The Doctor came walking in alongside Mo and Elliot.

"Not bad for a first session. More similarities than differences." The Doctor said not noticing Eve just yet.

There was a whooshing sound that made Eve look up. "The transport has returned. Your friends are here." Eldane told the group as the Doctor looked back over to see Eve waving.

"Evie!" He shouted as she came walking over. He held her tight in a hug. "Oh, you're okay."

"Yeah, Eve, he was going mental!" Amy laughed. "You should've seen him!"

"No, I wasn't." The Doctor denied it as he shot a small glare at Amy. Eve laughed.

"Actually... I did see him. I just... couldn't see." Eve tried her best to explain. "I could hear and see everything, just differently." The Doctor slowly let go of Eve with a confused face. "I'll explain later. Oh, that's new! You're usually the one to explain."

"Yeah.." The Doctor muttered as Eve smiled and went over to the table to wait for Rory and the others to arrive.

"Here they are." The Doctor waved as Rory came walking in with Ambrose. Elliot ran over to his mum with a smile as Amy called her fiance's name.

"Doctor," Eve called as she stood next to him. "Something's wrong."

"Yeah." Tony came walking in with something in his arms. It was body shaped. Eve placed a hand to her mouth as she realized what had happened.

"Doctor, what's he carrying?" Amy asked as Tony got closer with the blanket-covered object. The Doctor stepped closer.

"No." He muttered. "Don't do this. Tell me you didn't do this." Tony kneeled to the floor, placing the dead body of Alaya down. The Doctor kneeled before moving the blanket off her face. And there she was.

Eve glanced at Eldane who looked at the body. Tony hung his head low as the Doctor looked at him. "What did you do?"

"It was me." Ambrose spoke up. "I did it."

Elliot stepped away from his mum, looking up at her. "Mum?" She placed her hand on his shoulder.

"I just wanted you back." She tried to hug him but he pushed her away and walked toward his father. The Doctor turned to look at Eldane.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know. You have to believe me, they're better than this." The Doctor tried to explain only for Ambrose to make it worse.

"This is our planet!"

"We had a chance here." The Doctor turned to her.

"Leave us alone."

"In future, when you talk about this, you tell people there was a chance but you were so much less than the best of humanity." The Doctor shouted when he looked up toward the door as a lot of warriors began to walk through. They were fully surrounded.

"My sister." Restac began when suddenly she spotted the body on the floor. She kneeled to the floor. Eve watched in sadness as she began to cry for her sister. "And you want us to trust these apes, Doctor?"

"One woman. She was scared for her family. She's not typical."

"I think she is." Restac stood to face the woman who had killed her sister.
