—chapter thirty-two | Vincent and the Doctor.

THE STRANGE CREATURE HAD CHASED THE DOCTOR. And Amy and Eve had given him the fright of his life. They went after him because they were bored... and because Vincent snores. "Wake, wakey. Rise and shine!" The Doctor barged into Vincent's room which woke him up. "Breakfast is served in the courtyard."

He opened two windows. "Whoa! What a morning." He clapped his hands together telling Vincent to hurry up. "Come on. And Amy's got a little surprise for you."

"I thought I'd brighten things up to thank you for saving me last night." Amy smiled up at Vincent. She was surrounded by sunflowers and sitting at a Table. "I thought you might like, you know, possibly to perhaps paint them or something? Might be a thought."

The Doctor came walking over while Eve was walking around. "Yes. They're not my favorite flower."

"You don't like sunflowers?" Amy questioned.

"No, it's not that I don't like them. I find them complex. Always somewhere between living and dying. Half-human as they turn towards the sun. A little disgusting." Eve glanced at the sunflower nearest her. "But, you know, they are a challenge."

"And one I'm pretty sure you will rise to. But, moving on, there's something I need to show you." The Doctor had shown Vincent a photo of the creature.

"That's him. And the eyes. Without mercy."

"This is a creature called the Krafayis. They travel in space, they travel as a pack. Scavenging across the universe. Sometimes one of them gets left behind and because they are a brutal race, the others never come back. so, dotted all around the universe are individual, utterly merciless, utterly abandoned Krafayis."

"And what they do is... well, kill, until they're killed. Which they usually aren't. Because other creatures can't see them."

"But I can." Vincent said as he looked back down at the photo.

"Yes. And that's why we are in a unique position today, my friend, to end this reign of terror. So, feeling like painting the church today?"

"What about the monster?"

"Take my word for it." The Doctor started. "If you paint it, he will come." Vincent smiled, standing up.

"Okay. I'll get my things."

"In your own time." The Doctor said as Vincent walked off. "I promise you, we'll be out of your hair by this time tomorrow." Vincent stopped before looking between the three. "This is risky."

"Riskier than normal?" Amy leaned forward.

"Well, think about it. This is the middle of Vincent Van Gogh's greatest year of painting. If we're not careful, the result of our trip could be the brutal murder of the greatest artist who ever lived. Half of the pictures on the wall of the Musee D'Orsay will disappear." The Doctor sat down next to the brunette. "And it will be our fault."

The Doctor had gone to go check on Vincent leaving Amy and Eve alone. "So.." Amy started before turning to Eve.

"So..." Eve muttered. There was silence.

The brunette looked around the room when Amy asked a question which made Eve a stuttering mess. "Do you like the Doctor?"

"Uh, what?" She turned her head so fast toward Amy.

"Do you, miss Eve Parker, like the Doctor?" Amy asked with a smirk as Eve began to stutter.

"Yes- No! No! As a friend! As a friend! As a.. friend."
