After that agreement Aunty Sa'adatu dragged me to her room and I had been curled up in her bed for the past 2 hours.

Baba had hit me, he didn't even let me explain myself, my husband's parents had even showed more belief towards me than he has.

Ya Muhammad didn't believe me at all, he didn't properly look into this and he had already made up his mind to divorce me and let me go immediately. I couldn't help but feel he didn't want me and he was just waiting for a reason and he was given one.

So why did he request to marry me in the first place?

I couldn't help but turn to look at myself in the mirror, is there something wrong with me?

The two men that were supposed to protect me against everything have failed me. If this was a test then they had failed woefully.

I carefully turned the other side away from the mirror and the picture in the frame that I saw there had me turning back to look at the mirror.

It was Ya Khalifa and Aunty Saadatu.

I had not felt this feelings in a very long time, the feeling of hatred.

I hated him.

I didn't know if it was at this moment or that feeling was here to stay but all I know is that I hated him.

And his brother too, I hate them both. I hate them all.

"Manal, ki tashi ki chi abinchi" Aunty Sa'adatu said coming into the room.

I wanted to decline and say I'm not hungry but when I saw her coming into the room holding the tray herself I sat up, wincing because of how sore I felt.

I thanked her collecting the tray and keeping it on my lap, forcing the fork carrying the spaghetti into my mouth.

She smiled at me before patting my head and sitting down.

"I failed your mother, I told her I'll take good care of our daughter but not even a month into your marriage my two sons are tearing you apart, I believe you, kinji? I might have not heard your full explanation but I believe you Manal."

I smiled at her, feeling the tears come back as she enveloped me in a hug.

She leaned back before wiping my tears from the bruises starting to form on my face from the hit.

She winced when she saw them again, the ointment did nothing to help.

"I'll tell Amna to go get that other ointment for you? Kinji? Now eat up, Maman Bala zata zo ta gasa miki jiki" she said as she went out of the room.

I kept playing with the spaghetti but nevertheless I ate it halfway and I kept it

Minutes later I saw Aunty Sa'adatu coming in.

"Manal zo muje, they're calling us, after whatever it is Sai maman bala ta zo koh?" She said.

They're calling us? To tell me what? That they found out i'm right? I don't want to hear anything that I already know of.

•MUHAMMAD'S POV.

"Sir I'm still extracting the audio, it's just the sensor that is faulty, but I'm sure the recording is still available" Tobi, the guy who originally installed the cameras in the house said.

We are currently in my study where the tv containing the footages is.

We have the video of where Manal let Khalifa into the house, all we can see is them having a conversation by the door and then her letting him in, there's no cctv in the living room so there's no footage.
