Harry, Hermione, Ron, and I stand, exhausted and disheveled, in front of a door marked with the number twelve. Harry steps forward and taps his wand on the weathered wooden surface of the door, a series of metallic clicks being produced from said door in response. The door swings open with a loud creak sounding through the tense silence surrounding us.

Harry walks in, Ron immediately following after him. Hermione and I exchange a hesitant glance and head in together. I grab the door and handle and pull the door shut behind us, sealing away any threats outside, while also sealing any threats inside with us.

A gas lamp in the hallway springs to life, illuminating the narrow cobwebbed hallway we are standing in. We all glance around, scanning for anything amiss.

Then, Harry takes a step forward, causing the horribly familiar voice of Mad Eye to ring eerily throughout the quiet hallway, "Severus Snape?"

My face twists into a look of confusion and shock.

"Mad Eye?" Harry calls out into the dark end of the hallway, sounding just as puzzled as I am.

Just then, a great rush of cold air sweeps through the hallway. I wince away from the frigid air, but stop completely when I notice something shifting in the darkness at the end of the hallway. Rising from the carpet, tall, dark, and terrible looking...is Dumbledore. A ghostly, worm eaten corpse come to life, with empty eye sockets and a sunken face. He rushes at us and I fumble to get my wand out and ready, far too horrified by the sight of Dumbledore to prepare myself at all. He stops before us, a few feet away, and raises his wand. Then...he explodes into a great cloud of dust, swirling like mist in the corridor, before drifting back into the carpet.

I stop my pathetic attempt to arm myself and glance at Harry, seeing the tormented look in his eyes. I go to grab his hand and comfort him, before remembering that I do not have a hand on that side to hold his with. I hesitate, unsure on what to do as Harry looks at me, noticing my movement out of the corner of his eye. I stare at where my hand should be, feeling strange and somehow embarrassed at my lack of a hand.

Harry eyes me with a bit of concern. I am sure my face is twisted uncomfortably. I shake my head and awkwardly smile at Harry, patting his shoulder with my nub. I try to convey all of the care and support I can through the pats and look in my eyes. Harry lovingly places his hand over my nub and smiles up at me gratefully, still looking downtrodden but much less than before.

"What was that about?" Ron asks, seeming as confused and perturbed as the rest of us are.

I sigh and shake my head, answering him, "My best guess is that Mad Eye left that here for the off chance that Snape came snooping. That illusion must have been meant to leave Snape guilt ridden for murdering Dumbledore."

The sudden sound of the floorboards creaking has us all on guard again.

Slowly, Hermione draws her wand and casts, "Hoemenum revelio."

Nothing happens, and I relax my body once more. Hermione lowers her wand.

"That spell should have revealed any human presence in this house. We are alone." I explain to Ron and Harry, thoroughly relieved to have found refuge for now.

I am awoken from my sleep by Hermione shaking me aggressively. I smack her hands away irritatedly and hold my head, trying to shake away the dizziness and confusion.

Hermione's voice is urgent, worry etched onto her face as she exclaims, "Harry's missing!"

I throw any other thought out of my head, springing out of bed and hurriedly starting searching the apartment for him. I cannot lose another loved one, I refuse to.

"Y/n, Ron! I've found him!" Hermione's call causes my body to sag in relief, my desperate searching ending.

Of course that bloody idiot had to wonder off again. He can never seem to understand that sneaking off like this always causes us to worry for him. I run a hand down my face and rub at my closed eyes tiredly.

This damned year is already turning out to be my worst one yet after I started attending Hogwarts, not that I am even attending the school this year.

I grumble to myself angrily, but stop as I catch sight of Ron staring out the window. I raise an eyebrow, walking over to him.

"What are you staring at so intently, Ron?" I inquire him, intrigued to know.

Ron jumps slightly, startled by my sudden presence. Ron turns to me with a light hearted glare.

"Bloody hell. We should get you a bell to wear so that you can't sneak up like that anymore." Ron complains, huffing annoyedly.

I scoff and roll my eyes playfully, walking closer to try and catch a glimpse of whatever is so interesting outside. Ron steps to the side and lets me look out properly. As I push aside the curtain and peer out the window, the relaxed and content feeling filling me draining the instant I spot two dark figures sitting in the tree outside the apartment, another sitting on a bench nearby.

My brows furrows and my lips pull into a frown. I try to find any features to differentiate the figures in case we see them at a later time, or to tell if I have seen them before, but it is much too dark outside to see anything specific. I sigh deeply in displeasure, stepping away from the window and roughly running my hand through my hair.

Ron shouts to the others, "Hey! I think you two better come down here."

Harry and Hermione come over to us and join Ron at the window, peering through the curtains with him. I pace behind them, irked at the potential threat and unease of being cornered.

Although they do not know we are here yet (as they would have invaded the place already if they knew), this still means that we could be caught at any moment and we need to stay cooped up in here unless absolutely necessary is we do not wish to be found.

Ron's voice breaks me out of my anxiety and stress induced spiral, as he informs Hermione and Harry about our situation, "The two clinging to the tree are Death Eaters for sure. Dunno 'bout the bloke on the bench." Ron drops the window curtain and turns to look back at us all, informing us, "Can't see us, of course. But we'll have to be careful coming and going. C'mon. There's something else you need to see."

I furrow my brows in confusion of what he could have found that would be more important than the Death Eaters stalking and hunting us.
