Chapter Forty-Three
Anna
 
     Anna faced her mother in the house. She took a deep breath, then gathered all her strength and will and sat next to her mother, who was drinking tea. Anna broke the silence a few moments later, showing Christian the picture that Peter had given her; she said: "Mother, do you know Mr. Moyes?"
   Mrs. Christian O'Brian, who was flustered, coughed and said: "I don't know him."
   "Really?! But he introduced himself to me."
   "Well, now that I have no choice, I'll tell you. He's your uncle who cut off contact with this family and changed his surname."
   "I don't believe it."
   "Is there anything else I need to explain to you?"
   Anna said: "Wait a minute, I have to take a work call." She moved away from her while looking at her, called Peter and said: "What are you doing, colleague?"
   "As we agreed, I'm going to my house to pick up those letters."
   Anna said: "Well, I'm talking to Mrs. O'Brian." Then she hung up.
