William's pov
3 years worth of days drifted by, life felt normal once more, like clockwork it became how it should be, natural flowing. Day to day like was like mirrored of each other day, yet poor sleep, inability with all my knowledge do anything right. It got frustratingly annoying.
The haunting figure of (y/n) disappeared with all evidence she even existed, but I worried causally that she'd feel petty one day to ruin my life once more. Clare and I had our wedding and she had a healthy baby boy, who rested stubbornly in my arms.
Today, was a party, and a lot of noice, that drilled into my aching head. I found myself wondering around the off limits areas, with a coffee in hand. Pace hallway to hallway, until I saw Henry talking to someone, his cheerful laughter, positive tone in his chatter.
"Alright, well, enjoy your day. If we get a chance later to talk, maybe we can catch up."
I frozen at the sound of (y/n)'s voice. "Yeah, if not, I'll see you in a few weeks anyways. Enjoy your work day." She hugged Henry before walking away into the main room. If it wasn't for her voice, I won't have recognised her, not completely. Would have had to look closer to tell.
I walked along the hall to him, not looking better than he last saw him. Maybe a little worse, but I think I did I neat job covering up the problem but no amount of practice to feel what I once felt like, from how lifeless and dreadful I felt. Her around destroyed any peace I wrapped myself in just by her cheerful 'doing well' voice.
"Hey, there you are. Glad you came out of hiding in your office, because here." He handed me a list of things that needed be done. "after the day, me you, meeting in my office." He told me.
"Nice to see you too, Henry." I grumbled, looking at the list. "Who were you talking to?"I asked, stiffly readjusting my sleeve cuff, while reading through the long list. "I just placed in spare replacement parts, since one of the spring locks got damaged after an incident."
"Just a reminder, because we got a lot happening and I need to help with a lot of things." He smiled, not answering what I asked.
"Who was that you were talking to?" I asked again.
"Oh! Right, um, That was (y/n)." Henry quickly mentioned, before going back to explaining the plan for day. I peaked through the door into the main room and there she was.
Her arm linked to a older man, I knew who. Didn't care to remember his name. Her face glowing, donned in modest clothing that made her seem too radiant to be real and her smile, oh her cheerful smile light the room without trying. Despite her eyes had eye bags, she gazed horrridly at the kid she tried wrangle close to her to attempt to clean her face with a tissue. She was there. Bold and beautiful. A goddess you couldn't believe existed. There. Happier than day. Brighter than life. No words could express how she could even be where she stood.
Ethereal in ways no man or god could comprehend. She was the past I've forgotten, but the future I'll never have.
The light in the room was overly bright and harsh, knocking her gracefulness down a couple of pegs, but there she was. She healthier than I've ever seen her to be, while she never stood more than a few minutes.
Last time I heard of her, was in a passing comment Clare accidentally made when rambling about her while making dinner. Nothing bad but that woman didn't need her ego boosted by a baby finding bright colours entertaining.
