Kyla's.

"--laine."

"Present!"

But she just grinned at me and when I turned to look at our teacher, naguluhan rin siya at pinag-kunutan kami ng noo.

"Aleign," pag-ulit niya.

"Present, Ma'am!" she raised her hand even higher.

I awkwardly lowered down my hand. I thought my name was called, magka-tunog lang pala ang pangalan namin sa dulo. My name's Kylalaine while hers was Aleign.

And what I just heard was "alaine" which I thought was mine. Nakakahiya, agh. But the girl doesn't seem to mind it because she just gave me a friendly smile.

Today is our first day in Senior High School. Hindi ko napansin na nakatulog na rin ako and I woke up while our teacher was calling our names for attendance.

I immediately removed my earphones at ang narinig ko agad ay "alaine" kaya akala ko ako 'yung natawag.

After class, the girl earlier approached me.

"Hi! My name's Aleign," pagpapakilala niya kahit narinig ko naman na ang pangalan niya kanina.

I tried my best to smile. "Hmm. I'm Kylalaine but you can just call me Kyla."

She giggled and hugged my arm. "I hope we can be friends, Kyla!"

That startled me a bit. My cheeks also burned because this is the first time that someone approached me like this. Hindi ba siya natatakot sa'kin?

I look unapproachable. The reason why I don't have any friends since Junior High School and no one approached me is because of my resting bitch face. They are all intimidated by me.

And this girl doesn't seem intimidated.

"I came from the States and when I finished my Junior High School there, I told my parents that I want to study here. Nung una ayaw nilang pumayag dahil baka mahirapan ako mag-adjust sa environment. But I insisted so they agreed," kwento niya kahit hindi ko naman tinatanong.

Napapatango na lang ako at pinaka-titigan siyang maiigi. She's so pretty with her fair skin, shiny long hair and heart-shaped lips. She looks more adorable when she smiles brightly.

"And you're my first friend here! Thank you, Kyla!" pinanggigilan niya lalo ang braso ko habang naglalakad kami sa mahabang pasilyo ng corridor.

"I'm honored," I told her honestly.

She's too nice for me. She's a personification of all the good things in the world. She's bubbly and cute. She's like a ray of sunshine.

Since then, we were always together anywhere. We were inseparable. We shared each other's goofiness. We first drank together. We cried together. We laughed together. We shared each other's happiness and pain.

Everytime I roll my eyes at her, she will just giggle and I find it amusing. Some people will get offended when I roll my eyes at them. But with Aleign, she doesn't mind it.

Until we met the three scholars of our section; Cheska, Fiona and Lyka. Aleign wants to be friends with them dahil ang iba naming kaklase ay ayaw sa kanila. They looked at their status very low dahil nga scholar sila.

But Aleign being the nicest, befriended them when they approached us. Of course, she tagged me along.

They were nice at first but their true colors are slowly showing. Kasama namin sila lagi sa party and Aleign always treat them.
