Thursday (A day before Anniversary)

* Max's P.O.V. *

Despite our concerted efforts, we were still running behind on everything. It was silly to groan about this because, really, when has anything ever run smoothly the day before the big day?

I wanted everything to be perfect, which was why I'd decided to go there early and take everything in my own hands. I went to inform Jessica about this, but she was with Noah. I didn't want to eavesdrop, but when I heard him asking about me, I couldn't stop myself. My heart almost broke when I heard her thoughts about me. I walked away. Later, I asked Kyle about her and I came to know about her closeness with Noah.

Noah is good for her. Both of them are goody-two-shoes!

I pushed away my thoughts and started working. I wanted to make the day very special. My parents would be so proud of me. I spent the afternoon at the ballroom, the venue for the dinner, pouring over last-minute details with my event manager. I looked around and smiled, noting down every detail of this large ballroom.

The walls were painted gold and the ceiling was white. A Crystal chandelier hung from above, glittering the light of a thousands coloured bulbs.

Kyle was coming the next day, and then I would get to know more about her.

Damn, Max! She doesn't care about you. Stop thinking about her.

The party was on full swing. I looked at my mother who was looking very young and beautiful in an off-shoulder black knee-length dress. She was so happy after seeing my efforts, her eyes glistened. My father, who was wearing a matching three-piece suit, was also impressed.

He hugged me and patted my shoulder, congratulating me on the success of the party.

"Hey, bro." I heard a deep voice and realized it was Cole. I cursed under my breath, as he made his way towards me with Tiffany.

Tiffany gave me a flirtatious smile and said, "Hey Max, getting bored?"

She was wearing a slutty red dress, as usual.

"Did Nathan finally see your black heart and dump you?" I smirked.

"He would never dump me," Tiffany stated confidently and flipped her hair over her shoulder.

"Then what are you doing here with Cole? Just go and entertain your boyfriend." I snorted.

"I invited her bro, so no need to insult her." Cole stepped in and added, "By the way, why didn't you bring your girl here? Damn, I really wanted to introduce her to Dad." He smirked and my blood boiled.

Relax, Max; he is doing this on purpose.

"There is only one thing stopping me from breaking you in half. I don't want the two of you around," I said through gritted teeth.

"Oh, c'mon, Max. Don't be so shy. It's nice if you like someone. No need to deny it," Tiffany smirked.

Damn! I should leave before I do something stupid.

"I don't want to waste my time listening to your bullshit. I've more important things to do," I said, turning around.

"We'll see about that, bro." Cole shouted behind me, but I continued walking, ignoring him.

I was fuming inside. I had to do something about Cole. He really needed to learn a lesson. He had forgotten that I was the boss here. He knew that I wouldn't create a scene here as it was a big day for my parents. I couldn't spoil it because of that bastard. Besides, I didn't want any problems with my image in front of my dad. I had already damaged it once, but not again.
