A Closed Door

He walks alone
Down a dark hall
Hoping for some light

The hall ends
At a door
Shut tight

He stands in front
Wondering if
He should open it

It reminds him
Of the day his mom
Left him alone with his dad

He hears yelling
Reminding him of
How his parents fought

He still stands
In front of the door
Thinking and remembering

He cries
Missing his much needed
Mother

His father
Turns to drinking
Leaving the boy to fend for himself

The phone rings
One silent night
He reaches to answer

His mother asks
For his dad
She has the papers

Dad isn't home
Yet
He explains

He notices a light
Coming from the door
He wonders

Grabbing the handle
He feels a spark
Of energy

He smiles
Turning the handle
Slowly

He opens the door
To what looks like
A wall of light

Hesitantly
He enters the door
Getting covered by the light...
