Lamppost*

Alone in the dark

Giving light to strangers

Of the night

Sitting on the corner

A car drives up

The lonely street

Lamppost shines brightly

Watching a women get thrown out

Of the black car

She weeps by the lamppost

The lamppost remains still

As the lady cries her heart out

She takes out a blade

Removes the fabric from her arm

Placing the blade on her arm

Dragging it across

Blood drips onto the corner

The lamppost's light begins to fade

As the lady dies on the street

Alone in the dark.
