Chapter 38

ALEC'S POV:

"We need to talk, Cassandra"I said straightening up.Her eyebrow quirked up,"I guess we do"she said with a shrug as she continued to suck on her blood packet.I glanced at the pack doctor signalling for him to leave.

Hesitantly he slowly left and closed the door behind him.Once he had left, I pulled up a chair and sat beside Cassandra.Remaining quiet, I tried to gather my thoughts.

When I finally shook myself out of my thoughts,she was looking at me expectantly,"What happened?"I finally asked after a moment of more uncomfortable silence.

A look of terror and confusion flashed across her gorgeous face,but almost as immediately as it had appeared,it was gone and in it's place was an expressionless mask.

"I was attacked"she simply said,my eyebrow raised a fraction as i waited for her to elaborate but she remained quiet."why?"I asked hoping she would give me more information."I don't know"she said after a moment of studying my reaction.

"A moment I was seated waiting for the door to open up so I can be with my family again,the next thing I know my vision is filled with smoke and my lungs are burning,I cried out for help,but received none"she said in a hoarse whisper,surprising me,I hadn't actually expected her to open up.

"I thought that was it for me,my skin was bubbling and my internal organs were on fire.Then just like that everything stopped,the air was filled with grunts and yelps,when I finally got the courage to open my burning eyes,I saw my sister fighting,but her opponent was carefully and tactfully hidden in the shadows"she said her expressionless mask slowly crumbling.

"My eyes were still blurry so I could barely see anything,I felt a presence behind me but I was simply too tired to dodge any attack coming my way,but by some miracle my instincts were awaken"she said,"all I know is my instinct saved me"she added finally removing her gaze from her lap where it had been resting.

"I blacked out after that"she finished staring into my eyes with so much intensity,I was surprised yet again.

"Is that all?"I asked her bluntly,and winced at the blunt way I had spoken."Yes"she said her jaw clenching,"is this interrogation over, because I would like to rest It has had quite a long day"she added coldly.

"You have been asleep for three days"I said as I waited for the panic to set in,her eyes widened in alarm,"oh"she said after a while of struggling to keep a composed look.

"How did I get here?"she asked after a pregnant pause."Your sister brought you here"I said,then a thought slammed into me.

"You said you were attacked before you got a chance to reunite with your family"I said slowly,thoughts of possible betrayal racing through my mind."and assuming your sister hadn't known about our deal,how the hell did she know to bring you here?"I finally asked my eyes narrowing in suspicion at her.
