62: Braces

Y/N's POV:

"Y/D/N, come on sweetheart. The orthodontist is waiting." Shawn crouches down on his knees to get on her eye level.

"No daddy." She replies, crossing her arms across her chest.

"Cuddle bug, what's wrong?" I ask her, bending down next to Shawn. He snakes his arm around my torso, pulling me closer to him.

"I'm fine." She sighs.

"Okay, then. Let's go." Shawn and I stand up and Shawn offers her his hand.

"N-no!" Y/D/N stutters. I look over and Shawn and raise my eyebrows at him.

"I thought you said you were fine." He says, sitting down on the couch beside her. Her bottom lip begins to quiver.

"I am." Her voice is almost a whisper.

"No you aren't. You can talk to us sweetheart." Shawn pulls her to his chest and quietly strokes her hair.

"Okay. I'm scared. I don't want to look like a geek. Wiley just got her braces on and she got teased." Y/D/N explains, a single tear escaping her eye.

"Honey, your dad had braces. And he's still cool, isn't he? He even has a couple albums under his belt." I assure her. She sits up with a confused look on her face.

"What?" She smiles. I wipe the tear away from under her eye with a small laugh.

"Yeah, he did. Do you want me to show you pictures?" I glance up at Shawn really quickly to see him blushing.

"Sure!" Y/D/N squeals. I pull my phone out and quickly pull up a random picture Shawn had sent me one day when he was on tour and I had missed him. He wanted to make me laugh.

"Look at this dork." I grin. She giggles.

"Oh my gosh, daddy. You were so cute!"
Y/D/N laughs.

"Eh. I guess." Shawn's face is the shade of a fire truck.

"And since you have your father's genes, you'll look cute with braces too. Now come on, let's go get these things." I say, helping her stand up. Shawn takes my hand and Y/D/N's tiny hand in his other and leads us back into the office.

"You know, there are times where I fall even deeper in love with you. And I think just now was one of those times." Shawn says with a wink. I squeeze his hand as Y/D/N climbs into the chair to get her braces.

A/N

Okay so this is totally because I just got my braces off, but the collage of Shawn and his braces up above is freaking the cutest thing on the face of the planet. Just saying. I love you my Rice Krispies! More info on a YouNow coming later today!
