Y/N's POV:

"Grandma, look!" Ava comes up with her hands clasped together. I crouch down, my knees cracking.

"What'd you have for me?" I smile. She opens her hands shyly, showing me the small lightning bug in her hand. "Wow, Ava. That is super cool. Why don't we go inside and get a glass to hold him?" I place my hand o her tin bock to guide her inside, where Shawn is in the kitchen cleaning up after dinner with Kiera and Lucas.

"Mommy, daddy, look! I caught a lightning bug and Grandma is helping me get a jar to put him in so I can keep him as a pet and take him home." Ava is so excited. Kiera kneels down to look at the bug in her daughter's hands as I grab a mason jar out of the cabinet. I screw it open and lean down, placing the glass jar under Ava's hands. She gently puts the bug into the jar, and I close it quickly as to not let the bug loose.

"Let's go back outside and see if you can catch some more. Grandpa and Daddy can finish up inside." Kiera and I go outside with Ava, and we sit on our back porch while Ava chases the flashes of light in the dusk.

"So, have you told her about the baby yet?" I ask, looking over to Kiera. She shakes her head.

"I have no idea how to tell her. How did you tell me about Jack?" She rocks back and forth in the wicker rocking chair.

"Well, you were sitting in your high chair and we had to tell you that there was a special person coming to live with us. You had so many questions, like 'where are they coming from?' and how long will they be here?'" I chuckle at the thought of four year old Kiera in her Sesame Street themed high chair. Shawn comes out of the house with Lucas right behind him.

"What are you guys talking about?" Shawn asks, sitting down in the chair beside me. I reach over and grab his hand, calloused from many years of playing guitar.

"We're just talking about how you guys told me about Jack. We need to tell Ava some time Lucas." Kiera looks at her husband, then out at Ava who has just caught another lightning bug.

"I know. We can tell her tomorrow, how does that sound?" Lucas suggests. Kiera nods and continues rocking in her rocking chair. The familiar sound of crickets chirp around the porch as I watch my grandchild run in the yard, barefooted and free. And as Shawn squeezes my hand lightly, I realize how truly happy I am.
