Evelyn’s POV

“I still can’t believe you uptight bitch are with him!” Francia yelled into my ear for the hundredth time, which made me burst into laughter. Since I told her that Harry and I were together, she teased me about it.
I spent three days in Cambridge. Staying at Cambridge became hard thing while last year, it was pure relief. Thankfully, I had Francia to keep me company. She didn’t mind staying with me since she loved staying at my apartment instead of joining her dorm, too.

She had spent nights telling me how Harry was nervous and insecure when he wanted to confess his feelings to me. That was cute and unbelievable! Harry with zero confidence... I couldn’t picture him. I started giggling at the thought.

“The uptight bitch has to go.”

“You’re already at his door?” She squealed.

“Yeah, so you shut up now.” I cut her off, just to annoy her.

After all, Francia was very different. I thought she was annoying. However, she turned out to be real friend to me... I guess. She didn’t judge me when I confessed her my drug problems. She even helped me out. Rare are people who would do that for me.

I shoved my phone into my bag and I removed my bonnet, ruffling my hair in the process. I ran my fingers through my hair to give it some order.

I was knocking at Harry’s door. I didn’t tell him I was coming, which created a weird feeling inside me. There was something unexplainable, as if I feared something I didn’t expect and I would become disoriented. I knocked one more time at the door as no one came to open. I checked my wristwatch and read six. Harry should be back from work by this time, I comforted myself.

When the door was pushed open, a huge smile appeared on my lips. He was there. But the smile fell to the ground when I was met with Payne’s eyes. A wild smile appeared on his lips while I could feel my body break down and my face contort.

Harry and I never talked about ‘his’ friends. In all honesty, I didn’t have much sympathy towards Payne or Tomlinson. Mostly Tomlinson, he was pain in the ass, sometimes.

“Evelyn Sethi! Why aren’t I surprised?” he exploded into laughter. I clutched onto my bag and forced myself to shape a smile on my lips. I bet I displayed my nauseous feeling instead of sympathy.

“Is Harry there?” I asked, trying to escape the mocking smile on his lips. My status jumped from the boss’s daughter to the best mate’s girlfriend, which added more to my uneasiness.

“Yeah, come in!”

He kept the door open and returned inside. I followed him inside and closed the door behind. I was welcomed with general laughter from the living room. My eyes searched for Harry between the five persons sitting in the couch and armchairs. However, I couldn’t find him. I groaned at the lie Payne had said to my face.

My feet seemed glued to the doormat. The smell of smoke and alcohol reached my nostrils. Soon, the huge quantity of cigarette smoke tickled my nostrils and made me sneeze. When the smoke seemed to clear away, I could tell they were watching a soccer game on TV.

I watched the men one by one. The first one had black hair, longer than Harry’s. He waved at me to greet me, smiling warmly. Next to him, there was a man, who looked much younger than the others did. He observed me from head to toe. The other one was Tomlinson, who blankly stared at me. The last one was tall and he sat on the carpet, eating chips. He threw something towards Tomlinson. I could tell it was money.

“Okay, you were right! You win!” He mumbled. Tomlinson scoffed and caught the bills. I wondered what their bet was about. However, obviously, it had to do with my arrival.
