When Marinette Dupain-Cheng was born, her parents were given an unusual gift for their daughter. Half of a gold cat pendant with a sliver of silver joining into it. 'Whoever has the other half is her soulmate'. The note read.
A few months before, Gabriel and Camille Agreste had a similar pendant delivered to them only with a silver Ladybug. They locked it away in a safe, knowing that the person who owned the other half would never be worthy for their son. (A/N: At least Gabriel did. Camille was open to anyone.)
The older they got, the more Marinette searched for her soulmate. Cat Noir teased her about it, claiming that 'She was meant for this cat.' She would laugh, then kiss Adrien on his nose and race him back to their apartment. They did get married and had several children, Marinette never found the other half. After Adrien died shortly after his 100th birthday, Marinette roamed through the halls, sobbing. Then, a piece of silver caught her eye. She bent down to grab it and noticed it was the missing piece she had been looking for her entire life.
Adrien had always been her soulmate.
