(Based on a theory I have. It's basically the reason that Nath is so quite is because he's relatively new to the school and doesn't speak because he's not all that good at French)
Nathanaël had made it perfectly clear to his parents that he did NOT want to go to school in France. He had all he needed in New Jersey. A great summer job, great friends, a possible girlfriend. He did not want to move to a European country where he didn't speak the language and didn't know anyone. But yet, there he was, getting off a AirFrance plane with only his parents and younger sisters for company. He hadn't drawn anything in several hours and already he was desperate for his parents to see the fault and return home to Arizona. But when they pulled up in front of their new house, he knew they wouldn't be leaving anytime soon. There was a school nearby, bakery (A/N:Mari!!) and everything he knew his father and mother would want. But Nathanael didn't want that. He wanted to go home.
