My mom died when I was 16. After her death, my father's life went downhill. Fast. He started to drink a lot. I would always come home to him passed drunk in a new spot of the house. He wouldn't feed us. Never protected us. I was the one who fed Scarlett. Got her stuff she needed. I was her parent at sixteen years old. When I realized it couldn't continue, I thought about Scarlett and I leaving Atlanta. I needed to protect her because she was my everything. I couldn't bare to keep her in this environment any longer.
