4.2: New Life without Him

It's raining outside. You don't know if Dino will come. You called him earlier. Jenny already asked the shop manager of Gangnam branch of her coffeeshop to switch jobs with you. Now you're in that branch waiting for Dino. Finally, he came. You felt relieved until you realized someone is with him.

"Y/N-ah, I'm sorry I'm late." He told you as they entered the shop.

The coffeeshop is empty except for two elders having coffee together. It's a good thing because you don't want your fellow Carats to know they're here. They'll be in bigger trouble.

"Mingyu oppa? Dino oppa, I thought..."
"I'm sorry. He saw us in the convenience store. I didn't know he followed me." Dino apologized to you.
"It's okay. Let's talk in my office." You told them.

You led them to your office. They look tired and you feel so guilty.

"Uhhh...do you want anything? Coffee?" You asked them awkwardly.
"I'll come with you. I miss making coffee." Mingyu said raising his hand.
"I'll stay here." Dino said.
"Oh. Okay. Ah! Wait. I made these for you, oppa. It's my thank you gift." You gave Chan a box of fried squid dipped in spicy sauce before leaving with Mingyu.
"Gomawo, Y/N-ah! I love this!" You heard Dino shout from inside your office.

You smiled thinking of the happiness in Dino's voice. You're happy he's not sad even during times like this and also because Mingyu is smiling.

"Y/N, you should have told me too. I can keep this secret for you. If this is what you want, I support you." He told you as you both prepared coffee.
"I'm sorry, oppa." You told him because that's all you can say.
"S.coups hyung stayed at home today. Jun hyung and Jeonghannie hyung are staying there with him. They said he locked himself in his room. I know he's crying. Can't you just go back?"
"Oppa, I don't want the fans to-"
"We want you to come back, Y/N-ah. Yes, S.coups hyung is still in our group but he's not the same. He's always sad. If he's not, he's angry. We want your happiness."

Yesterday, they held a press conference. S.coups apologized to all the Carats for being irresponsible. A lot of fans knew he's sincerely sorry and they took back their criticism. Everything is almost back to normal except your relationship with Seungcheol.

"He'll never be happy if I'll stay with him."
"But-" Mingyu's suddenly rang. "Oh. It's Wonwoo. Mind if I?"
"No. Go ahead. Just don't tell him you're here. I'll bring these to Dino oppa." You told him and went back to your office.

Dino is licking the spicy sauce off his fingers when you came. He immediately grinned at you when he saw you and told you to sit beside him.

"I was dying for those! Thanks, Y/N-ah!"
"It's nothing compared to the trouble I got you all in." You told him as you hand him his drink.
"Y/N-ah, I saw the note you left for S.coups hyung. You're poetic." He commented.
"What?! You're crazy, oppa! I just copied it from the internet."
"Really? But it's good. 'You've always been a star. I've always wished to get near you. But as I moved closer to you, I realized that you really are a star. I can never stay long beside you or I'll melt. And for that reason, I'll just watch you from afar. Just keep shining.' Pretty tear-jerking!" He said repeating what you wrote on the note with a little exaggeration.
"Quit it, oppa! It's a stupid one." You told him making him laugh.
"But really, Y/N-ah. I've never seen hyung that sad and depressed. But I understand you. I want to tell the whole world I'm in love but I can't." He said and your eyes widened.
"Wait! What?! You're in love?!" You asked him.
"Yes. With a foreign girl. She's like you. She's also a Carat. And we're getting closer each day. But I'm afraid I can't show my love for her."
"Why not?!" You asked him feeling sad.
"Because I don't want her to be in the same situation as you, Y/N-ah. I know S.coups hyung didn't want this to happen too."
"But it happened. Because you have fans everywhere. And you're popular."
"Yeah. I know. It's just sad this has to happen."

Silence followed after. You just sat there drinking your beverages.

"Y/N-ah, I'm going now. Wonwoo is waiting for me in the dorm." Mingyu suddenly came.
"Yeah. Sure. Take care!"
"Keep your mouth shut, hyung!" Dino shouted to him as he ran out of the office and the coffeeshop. "I still doubt their gender." He said as soon as Mingyu is gone.

You laughed at this. For 3 sweet years, Mingyu and Wonwoo have always been so close you'll think they are married if one of them was born as a girl. Maybe they just don't have the guts to admit everything. But at least they can be together.
