Frisk's P.O.V.
"Now...let's see what you have that we don't..." Sans thought aloud. My soul grew brighter as a click of a button rang in the room.
"T-Too late! Already found an article about it!" Alphys said excitedly. Sans laughed a tad before grabbing the book out of Alphys's hand.
Alphys turned the pages to a specific part. I couldn't quite see what the page was, but the two scientists seemed quite interested.
"Each human soul has a personal trait to give to their humans'," Sans started reading aloud. "Patience, Bravery, Integrity, Perseverance, Kindness, and Justice--"
"The six known human souls..." I finished. Sans paused for a moment. Then he chuckled a little.
"That's right," Sans said, flipping to another page. "The last trait leaves you with......DETERMINATION. Humans mostly use this trait. For example, millions of them used it in the battle against Monsters and Men."
I felt...terrible after Sans said that. I remember my history teach teaching us that lesson.
"Humans use the term 'Greatest accomplishment in human history,'" I sighed, slightly getting fed up. "Just a bunch of bastards, who think they're better than anyone and anything on planet Earth!"
"Hm...your soul faded as you said that," Alphys cut in. "Your determination weakened. So being reminded of something terrible, your soul fades it's color...almost as if you lose hope."
"Start gaining back hope, cause we're on the verge of finding answers!!" Sans said, excited like a little girl getting her first iPhone.
Seeing how Sans is so excited to do some science, and the way he's acting...fills me with DETERMINATION!
My soul grew brighter. Sans chuckled as he pulled down some levers.
"Gaining back determination? Good," Sans congratulated me. "Now...relax and enjoy the show."
I did what I was asked. I felt more calm sooner than I thought. I could feel myself slowly fading away, like I was going to pass out.
And that's exactly what I did...I think. The last thing I heard before blacking out was "You're doing great, Frisk."
I woke up in a pale, blue room. I slowly got up, taking in my surroundings. Monsters of all sorts were there...yet they were different.
They looked drained. They looked like they wanted to die. That they didn't car to live in this poor world anymore.
I felt sorry for them. Feeling that way is terrible. I WOULD take their life so they'd stop suffering, but I couldn't bring myself to do that.
I snapped out of my thoughts when I remembered why I was here: to find an exit. I started walking around, looking left and right. I wasn't exactly sure of what to look for...a door? Hole? Light? Whatever it was, I'd most likely will have to check it out.
As I continued walking, the monsters ahead looked worse. They looked more depressed, more willing to die. Is this place REALLY for "mistakes?"
There was no way to get out. I was there for what it seems like for hours! And I saw nothing but poor monsters.
"H-Hey? Alphys? Sans?" I called out. "If you can hear me, there's no way out. All it is is just...sadness!"
Nothing. Dammit. So, I kept walking. The best thing to do in this situation. At this point, I looked at my feet while walking...or even standing still. I couldn't see those monsters again. Poor things.
"Hey! Sans! Alphys! You guys better get me out of here!" I called once again. "I-I don't want to be here anymore!"
I heard a couple of beeping noises. Then the room turned completely white. I felt heavy...like gravity was my enemy.
I opened my eyes to only see the bright lights above. A sizzling noise rang next to me. The machine was basically on the verge of catching on fire.
I sighed, still having that terrible image of those monsters. They were still suffering in there.
"You couldn't find a way out?" Sans asked, seeming hopeful. I shook my head. Sans' grin seemed to grow wider.
"That's that then! SUCCESS!!" Sans cheered, picking me up in the process. I shrieked and giggled.
"Everything's gonna be fine now! Now we know that monsters can't escape!" Sans continued cheering this victory.
I didn't know this was out of pure happiness and didn't know what he was doing or it was intended, but Sans kissed me. After days of not seeing him, thinking he was gone forever...I actually got to feel his warm touch and his sweet kisses.

Were we back together?

I'd say yes.
