"What?"
"How is that possible?"
"Oh no!"
"You made a mistake!"
"Yes, we'll be the godfathers of beautiful children!"

Well, apart from the last comment, obviously said by Austin, they were all bad. I mean I understand my dad's anger, his daughter found her mate and Hattie and Sophia were just plain jealous. It was the Royals' reactions. Shouldn't they be happy their son found his mate? Is it because he wasn't going to be King? Was I too ugly? Why did Dakota's parents have fear in their eyes? What the fuck was happening?!

A wave of confusion and sadness washed over me as my eyes connected with Dakota's; it seemed like he too didn't want to be mates with me.

I quickly looked away, my eyes moving around the hall. A lot of people were staring at us now, already seeing that something had happened. The Royal guards moved a bit closer to us, and a good looking man came to stand by Cayden's side. He was hot, but he was nothing compared to Dakota.

Talking about Dakota, I went to face him again, to see him not there. I looked around the room wildly, trying to use my senses. My sharp eyes caught him slipping through the door. How had no one saw him?

I didn't think for a moment when I ran after him, ignoring my dad who called after me, the number 1 priority in my head was to find my mate and demand for him to tell me his problems with me.

I followed his scent - chocolate and mangoes, a weird combination, but it worked as I smelt him to my left. I went left, just to stop when I walked right into a dead end. His scent was even gone!

Okay, I know what this is, most castles have these, secret passageways leading  through the wall, I just have to find the right place to push for it to open.

I studied the wall. There was nothing out of the ordinary, so I just pushed a space, and when that didn't work, I just kept on pushing random parts of the wall. At the end I just pulled a part of a stature that was just there, but instead of opening the wall, I just broke it.

"What are you doing?" I spurred around at the sound of my mate's voice, hiding the broken object behind my back.

"Um.... I was looking for you." I told him, biting my lip and looking down. Damn was his voice nice - low and husky with a tinge of an accent.

"I didn't know I was in a wall or in a statue."  He told me, his eyes darkening as he stared down at my lips. My cheeks flushed red and I quickly released my lip.

"I thought there was some kind of passageway." I told him, wincing when I realised how dumb that sounded.

"Well you're right, there are passageways in here, but you're just standing by a normal wall." He told me, a quick flash of amusement flying through his eyes before it disappeared into coldness.

"I'm not here to talk about walls." I crossed my arms across my chest, giving him a determined look, "Why did you leave?"

"I don't want a mate." Was his only reply, yet I felt like he was keeping something behind and from me.

"Why? Am I not right for you? Do you have another woman in your life? A man?" I asked, my eyes tearing and my voice breaking.

His eyes softened and his stance loosened, "I have no one in my life, and that's the way I want to keep it."

"Why!" I cried out, feeling a tear fall down my cheek.

He stepped closer to me until I could feel his breath in my hair. I wasn't that tall, but his head was kinda bent down. His fingers trailed down my jaw softly, wiping away the fallen tear. I leant into his touch, my eyes closing when I felt his other hand wrap around my waist. Man, I had butterflies, fireworks, bombs... everything!
