Cold Water - Semi Eita

It was one of those quiet nights. The stars were twinkling, moon shining, and wind softly blowing. Everyone in the apartment building was probably asleep and Semi Eita was still sitting by the small balcony of his flat with his acoustic guitar.

The day at uni was terribly exhausting as usual. And here he was having a break from doing all their required projects due tomorrow by playing some relaxing tune.

The setter would always do this whenever he had free time or he's procrastinating at one am. This was one of those times.

Little did he knew that whenever he did this, apparently the both of you had the same sleep pattern so you would always listen to his comforting melody from above him. Your flat's balcony was only a floor away from his. He had been your neighbor for about a month now and you've never actually seen the guy.

The only things that you knew about him was that his hair was light ash blonde with black tips for you had tried to look down at his balcony several times to try taking a glance of what he looked like, yet you failed since he never really looked up. He was at college you were sure for you could always hear few people partying from below your flat every weekend.

You didn't mind though, the bliss of hearing him play the guitar was enough for you to forgive and forget all the noises from his flat.

Semi then started strumming, putting his fingers perfectly on the fret to play an E minor chord, to a G major, B minor, and C major. You noticed the melody and sound pattern of what's his playing and realized that it was a very familiar song.

Cold water? You thought. It was one of your current favorite songs. You weren't really a fan of the artist, but the song itself was very pleasing and meaningful, and you actually knew every single lyric. Thus, your lips started moving, your soft voice matching the sound of his guitar and started singing the song.

"And if you feel you're sinking, I will jump right over into cold, cold water for you."

His brown eyes widened, hearing a voice so beautiful singing the lyrics of the song that he was playing. Semi could tell that the voice was coming from the balcony above him and he couldn't help but smile.

"And although time may take us into different places, I will still be patient with you. And I hope you know..."

He couldn't stop playing, your voice was just too alluring that he wished he could hear it for the rest of his life.

"I won't let go. I'll be your lifeline tonight..."

The chorus ended then Semi made a few strum to connect swiftly to the second verse. Yet when the verse started, his heart almost dropped when he didn't hear your voice. The boy then automatically stopped playing as he looked up. He only saw your H/L H/C hair for you were on your back leaning on the balcony's railing.

"Why did you stop?" He asked a little loudly which made you squeak accidentally.

"Y-You can hear me?" You asked back without moving.

The setter chuckled softly, making you blush intensely for some reason. "Yeah." He said.

You then cursed yourself for getting too carried away by the song just seconds ago. "It's pretty late. I-I need to finish some homeworks." You said as a half excuse for you really need to finish your assignments. "Good night." You greeted before going back inside your flat and sighed.

Your heart was pounding in your chest like crazy yet you just ignored the feeling and went back to your study desk to focus on school works.

After a few minutes of writing and solving though, you heard someone knock on your door. You checked the wall clock and found out that it was already 1:30 in the morning. Is this a freakin horror movie? You thought before walking towards the door and opening it nervously.

Your eyes widened when you saw a guy of your age standing before you, panting slightly, his light ash blonde hair with black tips everywhere. Then it hit you. Your heart started racing then again. "Are you..."

"The guy that you were to talking to just a few minutes earlier? Yes."

You couldn't help but grin and so did he. "What're you doing here?"

"I'm just– I forgot to tell you that..." You stared at him blankly, waiting for a complete answer. "Your voice is amazing." He finally said with a slight blush on his face.

"So you came here just to tell me that?" You laughed softly.

"Yes. You deserve to know that."

Then, there was complete silence. A comfortable silence until you finally spoke. "I'm L/N Y/N."

"Semi Eita." The two of you laughed at this very cliche girl and boy situation. You couldn't help yourself but quickly fall in love with his laugh and smile though.

"Well." Semi started. "I should probably go back."

It took you a moment before answering. "Y-Yeah. You should." Yet your answer was a contrast to what your mind was telling you. You didn't want him to go yet. So when he was about to walk away, you suddenly spoke. "M-Maybe–"

He looked at you confusingly and you continued. "Maybe you should come in for some quick coffee or something. I don't want to waste your effort of like going here."

He chuckled. "Coffee would be great."
