Gift [Part 2] - Sugawara Koushi

"Merry Christmas!" Sugawara greeted once you opened the door to you and your daughter's apartment.

You couldn't help but smile for you knew to yourself that you were honestly very happy to see him again. It had been a week since your heartwarming reunion with your ex boyfriend and before you left that day, he asked politely for your current address and promised to visit the two of you on Christmas day, and he did.

"Mommy, who's–" Kazuha then appeared from hiding behind your leg, her eyes shone when she saw the grey haired man and gasped. "Daddy!" The little girl then ran towards him and hugged his leg.

Suga's smile grew wider, seeing her cute daughter again as he carried her in his arm. "I missed you too, Kazu-chan!" He said to her cheerfully.

You then let him in and closed the door. He walked to the living room and gently dropped Kazuha on the couch. He sat beside her and you sat on the couch in front of them, making you see a better look at how similar they truly looked. Your favourite similarity of them though, was definitely their smile.

"By the way, I have something for you little lady." You watched as Suga picked up a neatly wrapped present from the paper bag he was holding just seconds ago and gave it to the obviously excited five year old. "And..." He spoke as he once again picked up another present and held it out to you, smiling. "One for the pretty lady."

You grabbed the small box and thanked the man, your heart fluttering a little, making your cheeks show a tint of pink.

"Get a woom!" You heard your daughter said jokingly as she ran to her room, laughing joyfully to open the gift that her father had just given.

The two of you laughed at how cute your daughter was. "She doesn't like opening gifts with people watching her." You said to the former setter.

"Just like her mother." He gave you a smirk.

"Hey! I can open gifts in front of people now."

"Oh? Would you open my gift now?"

You pouted at his teasing smirk and tone before you gently unwrapped the small box. Once it was completely unwrapped, your eyes widened a bit, seeing how it looked kind of like a ring box. Your heart then finally melted when you opened the box and saw a magnificent diamond ring. "Koushi..." You said, still looking at the ring, your smile fading for the sudden present. You weren't sad, you just didn't know how to feel or what to say.

"Will you marry me, Y/N?"

You then looked at him and your eyes met. You opened your mouth but no words came out of it, causing you to close it again.

"I know it's a little sudden. We've been apart for five years til last week and I know you're still not ready because it's not that easy to give someone a second chance, I understand that." He gave you a sincere smile and you returned it with a sad one for you knew his words were true. "But then again, I'll wait. I'll wait for your answer, Y/N. Take your time, it may take weeks, months, or years, I don't care, I'll wait. Because I love you and our daughter very much. It would be nice if we become a real family as well."

You couldn't help but laugh a little as you felt that familiar warmth and tingle in your heart that only Sugawara could cause. "You're as cheesy as ever."

"W-Well, you love it though." He stuttered, falling for your laugh and smile once again. He just couldn't help but fall for you over and over again, and he loved the feeling no matter what.

"Hmm. I do." You responded with a smile.

It did took you some time to finally give him an answer. A few months to be quite exact. And Suga didn't just wait for your answer, he worked hard and made all the efforts by visiting you and Kazuha almost everyday, taking you on dates every once in a while, taking care of Kazuha when you're busy with work, and taking good care of you as well. It reminded you of how he would take care of you when you were still in high school whenever you're sick or too busy studying and stressing yourself for an exam. He didn't change a bit, he was still the Sugawara Koushi that you loved and that made you happy.

"Yes." You said in random while you too were preparing food for Kazuha's 6th birthday party.

"What?" The grey haired asked, raising an eyebrow.

You chuckled and faced him properly. "Last Christmas you asked me a life changing question. Sorry if it took so long, but my answer is yes, I would love too."

You noticed how his eyes widened when it finally hit him, his lips slowly forming into a smile. "Really? Y-You'll marry me?"

You nodded with the same excited smile before he suddenly wrapped his arms around you and hugged you tightly. "Thank you, Y/N." He said as he kissed your head lovingly. "Thank you so much."

"No, Koushi. Thank you." You responded as tears formed in your eyes. "Thank you for not giving up on us."

They already gave Kazuha their birthday gifts, but perhaps the greatest gift that they could ever give to her was this. A family.
