Making Friends?

I guessed the next step would be to keep exploring. I had no idea where Jeff was, but I could always run back to his room if I needed to. I kept walking through different rooms, all very slowly of course. Eventually, I stumbled upon a huge library with a large dining room/ meeting table in the middle. There were rows of bookshelves and multiple bean bags around. I noticed someone sitting in the window on top of pillows, reading. I wasn't sure what to do so I just stood there. Very slowly, his head turned to look at me. He had a black hoodie on and a blue mask with black, dripping holes where his eyes should be. I jumped back, creeped out by his eerie movement. He raised a black gloved hand and waved at me. I waved back, uncertain, and slowly started to walk closer, his gaze staying on me the whole time. I decided to sit down on a bean bag near him, but kept enough distance between us.

"Hi, I'm Jack," he said, still staring at me. People in this house sure have a thing for staring. "Hi, I'm Y/N," I replied. He nodded, marking his place in his book and setting it down, getting ready to talk. "What happened to you?" he asked while he tilted his head a little, curious. "W-what do you mean?" I asked, not knowing what he was talking about. "Your wrists are bloody and there's a cut on your neck. Plus, I'm sure you didn't just come here for fun," he explained. My eyes widened; his description of my appearance sounded alarming. "Well, I've been in shackles and chains all day and I have no idea why I'm here, to be honest," I told him, getting more confused as I spoke. "Shackles? Why? Although, that explains some of the sounds I've heard," he replied. "I don't know, it's a long story. You could hear that?" I asked. He nodded his head 'yes' and followed up with: "Well how'd you get here?" "I'm not totally sure, I was just taken here with my eyes covered," I responded. None of this was making any sense. "Who brought you here?" he asked in a slower voice. "Jeff," I replied. He stayed silent for a few seconds in shock. "And you're still alive?" he asked, surprised. "I think so," I laughed. "Well, Jeff's the most dangerous one here, so if you can manage to have him not kill you, I'd say you're doing pretty well," he praised. "He's the worst it gets?" I asked, excitedly. Maybe I didn't need to be that scared. "Well, yeah. He's the most aggressive. Technically Slender's the worst it gets, but I don't really count that. Don't get me wrong, there are some pretty twisted people here, and I'd suggest you not piss anyone off too bad," he informed me. Slender, I thought, as in Slenderman? People always talk about him. "What about you, are you included in that?" I asked. "Um. Yes, but it'd take a lot to get me to that point, especially with someone like you," he replied, causing me to blush slightly. "Do your cuts hurt?" he asked, sounding concerned. "No, not really. Thanks," I said. "Let me know if you want help with those," he instructed. I nodded and looked around a little, my eyes resting on his book. "Whatcha reading?" I couldn't help but ask. "Some sci-fi book. I just started it but it's pretty good," he told me. "Oh cool. Well, I'll let you get back to it," I said as I stood up, feeling guilty for taking up his time. "It was nice to meet you," he said, still watching me. "You too," I said as I left the library.

I felt good knowing I had met a few people that were friendly, but I couldn't help but wonder why they were all living in one big mansion. I figured they're all somewhat similar to Jeff and had backstories and 'quirks' to put it one way. Jack reminded me of Jeff in a strange way, they seemed like they'd get along well, surprisingly. I wasn't really sure what to do or where to go. I had no idea where Jeff was and I didn't really want to go sit in his dark room. I ended up in the kitchen again and sat down on the counter, waiting for something to happen. Eventually, Jeff walked in and noticed me. "Well, you managed to stay alive. Congrats," he said while grabbing some water and walking over to me. "I'm so confused," I told him randomly. "I know, I am too, believe me. We can talk more tomorrow though," he replied, understandingly. It seemed like something was bugging him, but it'd have to wait until tomorrow. "What time is it?" I asked. "I don't know, midnight, one, something like that," he responded. I could tell he was tired because he wasn't acting cryptic and his voice got lower and more hoarse. Then I became even more confused because I thought he didn't get tired, and I wondered how he slept. I shook it off. "Wow," I responded. He nodded, "Yeah, let's go to sleep." I shivered, that phrase getting to me a bit from the story he told me. "Do you have spare rooms in this huge mansion?" I asked sarcastically. "Yes, but you're not sleeping in one," he replied, the sass coming back with his response.

"Why not?" I asked, crossing my arms. "I don't trust you," he said simply. He grabbed my arm, accidentally grabbing my wrist then quickly moving his hand higher. "Sorry," he said while leading me back upstairs. Did Jeff just say.. sorry to me? I hadn't known him for too long but from what I've seen and heard, that was rare. Once in his room, he shut the door, still not turning the light on and keeping the appearance of it a mystery. He plopped down on his bed, not bothering to change and just laid there. I awkwardly started looking around for blankets to make a bed on the floor. "What are you doing?" he asked. "Trying to make a bed on the floor," I replied as if it was obvious. "Well, stop. Get over here," he said, sounding very tired. He reached out and grabbed my hand, pulling me onto the bed. I decided to just go with it and got under the covers. "It's rude to let guests sleep on the floor... right?" he asked, unsure. I raised an eyebrow, surprised he didn't know the answer to this. "In most cases, yes," I told him. He nodded and I turned so my back was facing him. He put one arm around my stomach/waist, which almost made me jump out of my skin. He acted very strange when he got tired. "Go to sleep," he told me, sending shivers down my spine. "Goodnight to you too," I replied, trying to hide the small bit of fear in my voice. He tightened his grip on me slightly and I fell asleep.

Ok I realize this chapter was a bit all over the place and strange and the last part was.. not exactly how things seem like they'd go, but hopefully some of it will make sense later? Also, some of the dialog with Jack was slightly important and that's all I'll say. If anyone's reading this, let me know what you think so far xD
