TIME WILL TELL
Are you for real, I’m just not sure
I’m far too wary of your allure
You bring me flowers to the door
Compliments flowing, a kiss secured
Your charm is obvious but I need more
Before I believe it’s me you adore.
Your smile is sweet, so very rare
Gentle manners beyond compare
Into your eyes I long to stare
My heart, my soul I would like to share
But am I ready for a love affair?
My trust is precious and must be earned
Once given, total, and must be returned
My mind is split where you’re concerned
I will get mad if I get burned
You’ll feel my wrath if I get spurned.
Should I put my worries aside?
Give in and just enjoy the ride?
Nothing is known unless it’s tried
And I’m not one to run and hide
Love does not come with a helpful guide
Nor can I dismiss the hope that’s building inside.
Surely you’re not meant for me
If only the future we could foresee
I’d gladly be your loving devotee
If this is really meant to be.
I suppose in reality only time will tell
I can’t stay hidden away in this shell
I’ll pray and hope that all will be well
On what could happen I will not dwell.
So bravely I will bite the bullet
Jump in, feet first, climb the mountain to the summit
Are you really meant for me?
I will take my chances and see
Truly only time will tell.
