THE MERRIEST OF LAUGHS
The man who has the merriest of laughs might in truth be breaking up inside
The woman who has the brightest smile may be holding back a torrent of unshed tears
Many stand tall in order to carry the weight of others on their overburdened shoulders
And those with the gentlest of voices willingly provide the strongest encouragement as you battle against the storms of life
So don’t be quick to judge what appears before your blinkered eyes
Look deeper, speak to the soul and see the picture as a whole
Peer past the smile, the laughter and the jovial demeanour
And know that you are not alone in the struggles that you face
We all hide behind a mask in order to get through our trials and tribulations
Take time to learn, reach out and find the person behind the visage
And be rewarded by the tearful smile, the warm handshake and the words of wisdom offered by those who have suffered much like you
Learn to love your fellow man, appreciation and understanding is the answer and only you hold the key
See with your heart and not with your eyes; tune into the spirit and you’ll never be blind
Be gentle and caring to all that you meet for who knows what troubles they’ve had to defeat
Remember as you travel, to look closer with your mind, for we all need to learn that it’s not difficult to be kind.
