THE GIFT

The world opened up on the day you appeared

Like an earthquake I trembled as you approached and came near

As our eyes met emotions made me quite unaware

Of the others around us, and as we touched they all stared

But with your caress came a healing and a trust that repaired

You brushed away worries and all my stupid pointless fears

You listened intently, then gently wiped away the tears

I used to be terrified, my whole life was a mess

You were sent here from heaven to teach me to care

My gift of an Angel, all mine, not for shares

Together united, as the months turn to years

With you stood firmly beside me, life’s meaning is now clear.
