A Speck of Dust

I've always felt like just a speck of dust,
Not wanting to move on though I know I must
Trailing in the shadows and getting overlooked by the crowds,
Nothing more than a silhouette, always filled with doubts

I've never felt more than just a sliver of hope,
That one day I can finally walk the tightrope
Be my own person and face the world,
Never again will I be that quiet girl

But then comes back that feeling of sheer fright,
Though the monsters under the bed aren't going to bite
I keep looking back and getting haunted by the past,
Despite wanting to keep a clear mind and move on fast

I've always felt like just a speck of dust,
Always feeling lonely and reality won't adjust
I've never felt more than a sprinkle of water,
Or an overflowing teapot getting hotter and hotter

Emotions swirling in and out of my head,
Streaming out are the tears so long unshed
No more was I than just a fresh intake of air,
It was only when I met you, that I was truly aware

You changed my world, brought it right to focus,
The happiness in little things, you made me notice
You made me feel like more than just a speck of dust,
Until you were in my world, there was noone I could trust.
