"Well well.  Looks like somebody's mother is going to be late."  You overheard Jerry talking smugly to Beth as you approached their bench.  "More like precisely on time."  You said loudly, stepping towards them.  Jerry jumped and Beth looked up, smile on her face.  "Mom!"  She stood up and embraced you.  You chuckled.  "What?  You thought I was going to be late to have dinner with my daughter?"  Beth laughed and you smiled smugly at the annoyed Jerry.  Patting her back, you stepped back and faced your son-in-law.  "Well what are we waiting for Jerry?  Lead the way!"

Jerry narrowed his eyes at you, silently he walked to the door and held it open.  Holding your arm, Beth and you entered the restaurant.  It was a fancy place, filled with golden chandeliers and dark red tablecloths.  "Ohhh fancy."  You said, whistling.  Beth nodded.  Jerry smiled smugly at you and placed his arm on the podium where the waiter stood.  "A... three person reservation under Jerry please?"  He looked at his hand, rubbing his fingernails with his thumb.  You hid your smile as the waiter looked through the list.  "Noooo."  He said in his thick French accent.  "I see no such name."  Beth narrowed her eyes and put her hands on her hips.  "Jerry...". She said, voice dangerously low.

You tried to hide your smile, thinking about how earlier you had used the voice changing device earlier.  "What!  No!  Beth?"  Jerry was at a loss for words, turning back at the waiter, he pointed angrily.  " I called this place earlier and made a reservation!"  The waiter looked through his list.  "Well so you did sir,". Jerry turned to smile at Beth before the waiter spoke again.  "But you cancelled it not an hour later."  Jerry looked shocked and you couldn't help but smile.  Your plan had worked perfectly.  "What?!?  There must be a mistake!  I did no such thing!"  Beth glared at her husband and hissed quietly through gritted teeth.  "Jerry your making a scene."  Jerry shook his head.  "No!  I made a reservation at this restaurant and I intend to eat at it!"

You shook your head.  "Well I suspected something like this would happen."  You said to Beth.  Pushing Jerry to the side of the waiter's podium, you cleared your throat.  "I do apologize for my son-in-law.  We are the reservation under Y/N.". The waiter raised an eyebrow and looked through the list.  "Ah yes.  Y/N Sanchez.  Table for three."  He turned to Beth.  "You must be grateful for a mother like her."  Beth nodded and Jerry narrowed his eyes.  "This way."  The waiter said, grabbing some menus.

He led you through the fancy establishment to the corner where a beautiful ice sculpture stood next to a small buffet.  "Today's specials in the buffet are clam chowder and salad with a homemade dressing."  He said as he pulled out a chair for you to sit down on.  "Thank You."  You said, eyeing Jerry.  He locked eyes with you, glaring as he helped Beth into her seat.  The waiter handed you your menus.  "Your waiter will be here shortly to take your order."  Turning on his heal, the waiter walked back to the front of the restaurant.

As soon as he was out of earshot, Jerry leaned forward, pointing his finger at you.  "This is all your fault.  You canceled my reservation!"  You pretended to look shocked.  "What?!?"  Beth smacked her husband on the shoulder.  "Jerry!  How could you say such a thing?  You heard the waiter!  You canceled it yourself!"  You raised your hand to Beth.  "Sweetie.  If there's one thing I know about men, it's that they always put the blame on someone else."  Beth frowned and turned to you, sighing.  You smiled.  "Well we can't change what's happened but thank god I was here.  Now, who want to order drinks?"  Beth nodded.  "Sound good mom."

The three of you opened your menus and looked at the food and drink.  "A martini sounds nice."  Beth said to you.  "So does this lasagna but it's still nothing compared to your cooking."  You said to your daughter.  She giggled.  "I could say the same about your cooking mom."  You laughed.  "The times I didn't burn it anyway."  The two of you laughed and you began to ease yourself.  Deep down, you were scared that Beth had changed in the time you were gone.  So many things had come and gone since your disappearance including these pictures called 'memes' which you had yet to understand.
