Regrets are Always at the End

A/N: Sorry talaga for the late updates guys. Medyo nabusy ako sa group na sinalihan ko eh. Pero medyo maikli lang po ito kasi busy na ulit ako. Pero I'll be posting a long one soon. Hope you'll enjoy it. 😊

     "So mawawala ka muna sa team for the duration of the big project?" tanong sa'kin ni Jamie, as she slices her steak into pieces. Tumango lang ako, busy sa pagmumuya sa kinakain ko. "Ano ba naman yan? Mamimiss ka namin. Insert iyak drama."

     "Tama si Jamie, Mich. Kakaclose nga lang natin tapos malalayo ka na?" dagdag ni Mike. Natawa ako sa isip ko sa mga pinagsasabi nila. Parang matatagal akong mawawala.

     "Ano ba kayo? Parang hindi lang tayo sa iisang building magtratrabaho noh?" tanong ko sa kanila. "It doesn't mean naman na malalayo ako sa grupo, eh, hindi na tayo magkikita. We can have lunch together. Or go home together. Whatever becomes the easiest and most accessible."

     "Hmph. Ba't ang dali lang sa'yo na mawala ka sa grupo?" tanong sa'kin ni Jamie sa'kin sabay pout. Natawa kaming tatlo sa kanya and she gave us daggers with her stare. "What's so funny ha? Siguro nga Michelle hindi mo kami mahal kasi ang dali-dali lang sa'yo mapalayo samin."

     "At sino naman ang nagsabi sa'yo nyan para mag-isip ka ng ganyan?" I stared at her as I asked her that question. Inirapan lang niya ako at nagpatuloy sa pagkain. "Ako nga ay hindi makapaniwala sa gusto ng CEO. Sino ba naman ako para tanggihan yung offer, diba? CEO na yun."

     "Whatever, Michelle, whatever," sabi ni Jamie at tumawa. We laughed with her and continued eating.

2 days have passed since the day na tinawag ako ni Mr. Bernardo. 2 days ko ng hinihintay kung sino yung engineer na makakatrabaho ko.

"Ms. Alcano, pinapatawag ka po ng CEO," sabi ng boses sa speaker ng work room namin.

Tumingin ako sa mga kaibigan ko, and guess what? Ang lalaki ng ngiti ng mga kumag. I took one deep breath and stood up from my swivel chair and tsaka lumabas ng opisina namin. I felt all eyes were on me as I was walking towards the elevator. I pressed the up button and waited for it to open. I was starting ro get anxious kasi nga, everyone was staring at me. I was starting to get impatient. Ba't ba ang tagal ng elevator? I can't wait to get out of their stares.

"Well, it's nice seeing you again, Ms. Hokage," I heard someone say from behind me.

Lumingon ako sa kinakaroonan ng boses at nakita yung lalaking nabunggo ko. He was as dashing as ever, naka-suit and tie siya ngayon. But his smile, his damn smile that made my eye twinkle in amazement.

     "The elevator's here," sabi niya, which made me come back to my senses. "Sasakay ka ba?"

   I unconsciously nodded my head. Naramdam ko yung kamay nya sa likod ko and pushed me gently towards the elevator. I felt my cheeks burned up and sa pagkakataon na yun, hiyang hiya na ako para sa sarili ko.

     "What floor?" tanong niya sa'kin.

     "The CEO's office," tipid kong sagot.

     "Looks like pareho tayo ng pupuntahan," sabi niya. I knew he didn't need to inform me, pero bakit ako kinikilig? "May nagawa ka ba to disappoint him?"

     "Of course not!" I suddenly snapped. Nakita kong gulat na gulat mukha nya and I realized what I just did. "I-I'm sorry. Uh-hindi naman s-sa ganon."

   He just nodded and stood still. I just regretted doing that. Ano ba naman, Michelle? You just turned him off! Pero why the hell would I care, right? It's as if gusto ko siya. Eh hindi naman. He's way far from my ideal guy.

"Weehh? Talaga ba Michelle? Huwag mo na lokohin sarali mo kasi kilalang kilala kita. I know you like the dude," sabi ng konsensya ko sa'kin.

I internally rolled my eyes and waited for the elevator to reach the top floor. Sinimulan na akong pawisan. It was getting hotter every minute kahit may aircon naman yung elevator.

"We're here," he coldly said and went off the elevator first.

I face palmed myself and followed him sa opisina ng CEO. Nakatingin lang ako sa dinadaanan ko kasi hiyang-hiya ako sa katangahan ko kanina. When we reached the CEO's office, binuksan niya ang pintoan and we both went inside.

"Oh, here comes the two people I've been waiting for to meet," bati ng CEO samin. Napakunot yung noo ko sa sinabi niya. Tama ba yung iniisip ko? "Please sit down, Ms. Alcano."

"So she's the architect youve been talking about?" tanon ni Mr. Handsome sa CEO. But why is he talking to him informally? Magkakilala na ba sila?

"Yes, she is," sagot ni Mr. dela Cruz sa kanya. "Son, it's my pleasure to introduce to you your partner, Ms. Michelle Jane Alcano."

Lumaki yung mata ko. Son? This freaking hot, sizzling, yummy guy is the CEO's freaking son?!

"Got you star-struck again, ms. Archi?" he asked me and I was speechless.

Omg! Ano na gagawin mo ngayon, Michelle? You just showed your bad side to the CEO's son! Mawawala na ba sa'kin trabaho ko? Will I be jobless soon? 😭😭😭
