Chapter 31

STASIA

I've   been sitting in this car since the guy said he'd meet me here at 4 pm. I got here at 1:30. I didn't want to...., well I didn't have anywhere else to go so I decided to stay here.
Wondering if Drew even cares that I left, if he even noticed... he hasn't even ringed me.... well maybe I did the right thing, Sophie keeps ringing and texting but, I don't read them! I can't put Keata in any more danger I can't believe she thinks keeping me safe will be ok for Keata.  She doesn't know what they're like, they will use anyone they can... Child, adult, they proved that with me and with Izzy.

I was so happy when Spud offered to take me to my car, even though he was a bit creepy like he had another plan. But all in all, I was safe.

I took Drew's  gun. He's probably going to kill me when he figures it out!  I don't care though , I'm not going back to live the life I lived before! I've decided I need to fight!  Fight for my life back! I'm thinking if my father wants me,  then I'm ready to fight back this time, Frankie scared the shit out of me last time and I'm determined to do something next time. I'm not going to freeze.  Stuff that!  I know how psycho he is now, well I've known how psycho he was all the time but I really couldn't think why  I froze, it could have been the shock...  But this time I'm good, I'm sure of it.  I've got Keata and Sophie and ...... well maybe not Drew but I want him safe.

I fell asleep for a bit but hear something that wakes me up.  A car maybe, or a truck but nothing is here. I get out of the car,  but before I do I put Drew's gun in the back of my jeans thinking to myself, I hope he doesn't miss it. As I step out of my car I see movement up towards the front of the house, like a tree bending a bit too much as someone passes through it, but it could be a cat or a dog. I look at my phone and see it's only 2:50 pm the guy said he'd be here at 4 pm so maybe it's just someone passing through,  I walk up to the top of the driveway and have a look around.  No one's here! I'm in the middle of nowhere I could scream and no one could hear me.... shit!

I decide to walk down the road a bit and hope for the best, thinking I'll get a better idea if someone else is watching me.  I'm hoping I'll sense more from out here.
It takes me about 20min to walk to the end of the road when I decide I should head back, as I get on my way I see a truck coming my way,  but I don't notice the people driving the truck, it's no one that's familiar to me. I keep walking thinking what a relief!

My mind can run off with the what ifs...., it's  hard for it not to. As I get closer to my car I hear another truck as I turn he's slowing down leaning out the window he yells out,
  "Hey, you must be new here? I live down the road! Come up for a coffee later if you're not busy and meet my roommates, I'm Jeff by the way!"
I smile but it takes everything in me to not feel anything! I'm  uneasy, it's like all the feelings when Drew's not around is coming back to haunt me. But I put it down to old feeling, I just nod saying,
"Maybe later I've got a bit to do first so might need a rain check, but I'll see how I go"
Hoping he will be happy with that,  I wave at him a goodbye.

Walking up, my new driveway for 7 days that's all I'm staying for. I see the front door is open but no car then I hear the truck stop I'm thinking is there someone in there or is the truck a part of this!.... shit! I stretch out my fingers and then tighten them into fists then I slowly put my hands in my back pockets trying to be as close to the gun as possible I turn sideways  so I can see both the door and the truck as well, I'm shocked as shit when I see Trigger come out of the house.  So is the guy that is walking up from the truck ..wait he wasn't in the truck that guys still in the truck. Shit, I try to bring one hand up to my back when Trigger says "your home honey come over here and I'll take care of these guys, see what they need." I smile thinking can I trust him! I'm confused, but the guy from the driveway says,
"She was just telling us that we could help her move, we didn't know she had company?"
He's getting closer and he's reaching for something and then he points it at me, a gun, shit!... again.
I decide it's now or never so I pull mine out, the guy just looks at me saying,
"Well, I hope u shoot to kill honey cause if you don't you will be a dead girl when I'm finished. Pity really, I thought we could be good friends first."
Then the other guy comes from around the corner, he must have got out of the truck, I was too busy watching Trigger and didn't notice him. But he keeps walking my way and  says,
" She already said she was going to come up for a visit! Didn't you sweetheart"
He winks at me like I'm on the same page as him... what the hell? I'm pointing my gun at the first guy and the other one is still walking up closer, I go to move my gun but Trigger says, "I wouldn't if I were you" he has his gun on the second guy thank god. Maybe we will get out of this alive.
"Stasia walk towards me honey"
I don't.  I know this is bad and as I said before I'm ready to fight.
So I turn and plant my feet just like Nana Sally told me to and make sure that my aim is good I relax my shoulders, my arms are locked. I flick the safety off and then everyone starts talking at once. But I block it out of my mind. Just as I'm about to say some thing I hear the second guy say "you're going down just like the old lady did !"  that was enough for me to commit.  I move targets so I'm pointing at the second guy who admits to killing Nana Sally and I shoot the first shot, it hits his right shoulder, then I aim the gun again and I hit his left side then my legs give way and I'm falling but I don't stop I take one more shot I   know he was the one who killed Nanna Sally . and that means I'll be next!  I'm not going there again, no matter what.  I turn and see Trigger coming for me,  he looks worried, but I smile trying to tell  him
  "I got him"
But he drops next to me saying
"At a price honey, now just breathe, the boys will be here soon" I don't know why he's making such a fuss. Then I see he is taking his jumper off and pushing it into my leg and I feel the pain... shit that hurts and it's bleeding bad! Worse than the last one. It didn't bleed this badly.  I moan but Trigger just tells me to breathe through it, I tell him
"You fucken try... fuck this hurts "
I'm starting to hyperventilate, the pains too much. It's not long and darkness comes.

I wake a couple of times and I feel cold but it's like Drew is here  I can hear his voice he's saying to hold on but I don't know why.... And why would he care I left him. I drift again........
