- Lillian's POV -

at the mall, I watched from a far as Mackenzie ran around the children's footlocker .... she was definitely Demi's child.

she finally settled on a pair of shoes..... right as rush hour, mall style, began.

there were people everywhere and I lost Demi and Mackenzie quick.

everything started to feel hazy and began to go in slow motion.

I could feel my heart beat in my head.

I spun in every direction, looking for them but they were gone.

I kept looking until my eyes settled on someone familiar.

is that who I think that is?

it is!

I quickly ran over to the little girl, keeping my eyes locked in her.

I knew her name, she's my cousin, but I didn't yell after her.

she's deaf.

but what the fuck is she doing here alone in the mall?

she's only three years old.

I ran over and swooped her into a hug.

she pulled away, unaware of who I am.

when she pulled back, she looked at my face and a look of relief flashed over her face.

she had been crying and still is.

I put one hand on her shoulder and used my others to point to myself, telling her to pay attention to me.

but because she's three, her attention was everywhere else.

I did it agakn and she focused on me.

I put both my hands in front of me and began to sign to her.

I slammed my hand to the other every change I got to show her I was upset and panicked too.

'where is your mommy?' I singed to her.

she gulped before signjnf back slowly.

' I don't know. she was here and told me that she loved me. she was crying and she looked mad. then she left me. she took my whistle.' she answered.

I felt anger flush over me.

'she left you here by yourself!?' I signed

she nodded.

her mother, my aunt, took her whistle. her doctor gave her the loud, piercing whistle for when she was panicked so anyone could find her.

she was set up by her own fucking mother.

what. the. fuck.

'how long have you been here?' I signed after gaining her attention back.

'since after lunch.' she said.

its almost dinner time!!!!
