When Annabelle, a young eighteen year old is sent to her grandmothers attic to fetch something she discovers some old photographs and newspaper clippings from 1919. The dates go back to when her grandmother was a child and lived out her own teenag...
Thomas and myself had walked home later that evening discussing what Alfie had wanted to uncover using me as the receiving end of information. If I was being honest I didn't know enough about the company to give anything away. I slept in my own room this time and was currently just getting back from helping Polly unload the groceries from the store down the road. A creak in the floorboards made me turn my head towards the back of the house. Was someone else here? "Poll where are the boys today?" I questioned trying not to alarm her.
"The boys are working at the betting shop and Thomas went to see Johnny Dogs about something" she rolled her eyes. I placed the remaining food into its places and slowly made my way to the entrance of the corridor. "Poll is there anything else you need help with right now?" I asked politely before I took off up the stairs "No love, go take a break its been a hectic few days for you" she chuckled. I smiled and began walking up the stairs as quietly as possible, avoiding all the creaks in the room.
Before I even attempted to barge into any of the rooms I listened out for where the sounds were coming from. The sound of paper being moved came from behind my bedroom door, you had to be kidding me. Assuming that Thomas had beat us home I walked into the room without a care in the world only for my face to harden just as fast at what I saw in front of me "What the hell do you think your doing?" I spoke sourly. "Annabelle your back" Grace was startled by my entrance into the room "It's not what it looks like" she defended.

I walked up to her and narrowed my eyes "would you like to explain what the fuck your doing in my room, let alone this house?". She took a step back and held her head high "It's non of your concern" she tried to defend herself and slipped beside me so that I was now facing the window. The sound of the car pulling up on the gravel sent a visible quake through Grace. "Honey he's not the one you should be concerning yourself with right now" I crossed my arms and stared her down.
Thomas's P.o.v.
I arrived home earlier then I thought however what I was about to hear wasn't exactly what I was expecting. A scream from upstairs echoed through the entire house and out to the car, fearing for the worst I went storming inside searching the bottom floor for anyone. I could see poll outside in the garden sipping tea so it wasn't her, which only left one other person. Annabelle. Tearing around the corner I sprinted up the stairs adrenaline pumping through me. Please don't let her be dead. I called out her name trying to figure out which room she was in "Annabelle!?".

Annabelle came walking out of the room with a busted up lip and bleeding claw-like marks all over her. I rushed to her side and looked her over making sure she wasn't suffering from any other major injuries. "What happened?" I asked franticly trying to lead her away from the room, she tugged back lightly and brushed the blood away from her moth with her hand. "Grace decided to pay a visit and go through my things" emerging from the room my fists balled up tightly and rage was visible on my face. "Grace get out now" I growled staring her down.
I shook my head watching the black eyed girl wobble down the staircase one agonising step at a time. "Thomas I warned her that if she hit me I would hit her back twice as hard" Annabelle threw her hands up in defence. "You look like you've been attacked by an animal" I tired to stop the bleeding from her lip as quickly as possible. "Well she fights like a Pig, Sloppy and cowardice" a chuckle escaped my lips "Why do you say that?" I questioned no even daring to gaze into the room where the two had been fighting.
"She slapped me and I knocked her flat to the ground with a punch and then she tried to cut me with her knife and because that wasn't enough she then attempted to reach for her gun" she took a seat on the floor. I walked inside the room and inspected the damage. Everything was a wreck, I can't explain what made Grace dare to come back here but she definitely crossed a line and now hopefully she knows it. I walked towards the window and watched as Grace walked down the street away from the house "Good fucking riddance" I mumbled.

I helped Annabelle to her feet and took her down into the kitchen and called Poll back inside to help out with cleaning Annabelle's wounds. "Thomas I can do it myself" she protested grabbing a cloth and applying pressure to the gashes on her arms. "Tom whats going on?" Polly entered the kitchen through the back door and almost dropped her cup when she saw Annabelle "What in gods name happened this time? you didn't fall the staircase did you?" she grabbed a cloth and did the same as Annabelle. "No unfortunately. I think I would have preferred that" I shook my head.
Poll cocked her head to the side "So what really happened then?" I cleared my throat watching as Annabelle let her hair flow down flawlessly. "Grace" I mouthed to her and her eyebrows raised "That stupid girl should have known better than to even pull a stunt like this to the Shelby's" Annabelle looked directly at Poll "But im not a Shelby" she changed the wraps around her arms "Yes thats true-" she looked at me "However your close to us and who knows maybe one day you will be family" I continued staring at Annabelle trying to make a plan in my head as to how I was going to deal with this.
