jimin didn't really have to do anything for the most part of the day. it was currently eight o'clock, and technically he and yoongi could both clock out, but yoongi was working on something he couldn't delay and jimin didn't want to leave him alone.
besides, this only meant the two of them wouldn't have to work a few scheduled hours later on since they couldn't work for more than forty hours a week.
jin was strict on hours.
so jimin had his leg propped up on his knee, holding a book open with one hand as he played with his hair with the other. his hair had become soft and tangle-free due to how many times he ran his fingers through it, detangling it.
jimin had his own small desk in yoongis room, considering that when jimin was out and about doing things for yoongi or yoongi was at a meeting, jimin spent most of his time there anyway.
yoongis desk was faced partially away from jimins, so jimin could stare at his boss all day if he wanted to.
if he wasn't getting coffee, that is.
"mr. park," yoongi said coldly, his voice hoarse, "i need another cup of coffee," he pushed his mug towards jimin.
jimin took the cup enthusiastically, but was let down when yoongi didn't even give him a second glance- or a first one, at that.
the first two days jimin was there, it seemed as if yoongi liked him a lot and was happy he was there. but now, yoongi was solemn. he seemed to be one of the most cold-hearted people on the planet.
the process of making coffee really did seem to be slow, especially when you have other important things to do, i.e., stare at your boss all day.
..and the framed picture of him kissing his girlfriend on the cheek.
he seemed happy with her. when she called him, even if they did have small arguments, he seemed happy.
jimin made his way to the breakroom, where one of yoongis coworkers, hyuna, was leaned against the counter.
there was also another boy in there, working the coffee machine. he looked jimins age, and he was handsome.
"and then you take the cup out, taehyung. it's done now," hyuna seemed to be training taehyung.
"oh! well i told you, mrs hyuna, i've never made coffee," he scratched the back of his head, embarrassed.
"and you want this job? kid, just ask yoongi. if you don't know how to make coffee and you want this job, you've got a big storm coming," hyuna laughed. his boss' name caught his attention.
"speaking of which, hey jimin!" hyuna suddenly realized he was there. both her and taehyung turned towards him.
"hi, hyuna," he began to make yoongis coffee.
"why are you guys still here?" she asked.
"he's working on a project and i'll feel too bad to leave him alone. he said he'll leave at closing, though," jimin gave her a smile, "what about you?"
"i'm on trainee duty. he came late and i'm on the late shift so i may as well stay until closing teaching him," she pointed to taehyung, who smiled sheepishly.
"i'm honestly confused. yoongis been so cold to me. it's like he doesn't like me," jimin said after a while. hyuna only laughed at him.
"honey, if he's extra polite to you, he doesn't like you. if he yells at you, that's how you know he likes you, or at least respects you. if he tells you you're allowed to leave, he doesn't want you there. but if he asks you to stay or he doesn't say anything about it, he likes you," she explained. it only confused jimin even farther.
why was yoongi such a complex man?
the two talked for a bit, even after yoongis coffee was done.
jimin was only reminded he needed to get back to yoongi when he heard him yell from his office.
"park jimin where the fuck is my coffee?"
hyuna only laughed at jimin when he rushed back to his office.
jimin, being clumsy as ever, managed to spill the steaming coffee on his arm as he made it into yoongis office.
he yelped in pain, and as soon as he set the mug down he wiped the coffee off and clutched his arm in pain.
yoongi only sighed.
"damn it, jimin," he mumbled to himself.
jimin thought it was because he had messed up and yoongi was disappointed, but that was not the case.
it was only because jimin was simply adorable and it just pissed him off that he was trying to be straight.
he pulled open his drawer, spotting his burn ointment right away.
(youd be surprised at how often he burned himself with his coffee.)
he walked over to jimin, who was seated in his chair. he gently took a hold of jimins arm, applying some of the ointment to it.
he set the tube down on jimins desk, and began to rub it in gently.
while yoongi was focused on helping him, jimins gaze was focused on yoongi. he stared at every beautiful little feature on his face, and he felt his stomach erupt. he could feel his cheeks get red. and he bit his lip.
he didn't even realize yoongi had finished what he was doing until he looked jimin in the eye. jimin could only stare for a second, his cheeks heating up even more.
it took him a second to get his sense knocked back into him, and he looked down.
"i-i'm sorry, i'm a mess." jimin just laughed nervously.
"god, i'm so sorry i caused you all this trouble-"
"jimin, it's okay," he put his hand on jimins shoulder, "i burn myself all the time. don't think about it," he ruffled jimins hair. and then he took his seat back in his desk.
"thank you," jimin mumbled, and he still had butterflies erupting in his stomach from when yoongi had put his fingers through his hair.
