Tony was in the living room of Avengers tower, laying on the couch and watching TV.

He was devastated, to say at least.

Long story short, he was in love with Y/N, the SHIELD agent.

But, whatever he tried, whatever he did, he couldn't get her attention.

She was Cap's girl.

She, on the other hand, had a big time crush on Tony.

It was a time when she was capable of doing everything for him.

She knew there were strong feelings but... she was afraid.

Afraid of being hurt.

Afraid of being one of ''Stark's whores''.

But when she saw him with Pepper... she lost all her hope.

The only reason Tony was with Pepper that moment, was because he lost all of his hope too.

So, she preferred to bury every single feeling she had for him.

Steve was a nice guy.

Steve wouldn't hurt her.

So, she chose Steve.

When Tony found that Steve and Y/N were together, he was jealous. Sure, it was a rivalry going between the two of them. But never for a girl.

Never.

Tony felt betrayed.

Steve knew that he loves Y/N, and he stole her away.

First, Steve hid the fact that knew about his parent's death, now, he stole the sunshine of his life.

For Tony it seemed that Steve wanted him dead.

They've been dating for three years, and Steve just proposed.

Tony always faked a smile around them and rolled his eyes, but he was heart broken.

He always pretended that he was happy for them, just not to make thing worst.

He was not happy. On the inside, there was a storm of feelings and emotions Tony couldn't really understand.

---

The silence that was in the living room was interrupted by the sound of footsteps, and Tony lazily turned his head to see who was, and his face instantly lit up when he saw it was Y/N.

His eyes sparkled and widened. Y/N wasn't dressed in anything special, however.

She was in a pair of sweats, some flip flops and a Black Sabbath T-shirt Tony gave her on her birthday (along with other gifts and a gorgeous Audi a8), but only her presence was enough to make his heart jump.

She had her favorite book in her hand and she walked to her favorite armchair and sat down.

Yeah, Tony knew what she liked doing, reading, what music she listened and every little thing he considered important.

His eyes watched her every move, looking at her with sadness.

Like a kicked puppy.

There she is...

The most beautiful girl in the world.

My friend.

She's the only girl that ever rejected me.

The girl that has the most beautiful smile.

The girl that can take my pain with a flick of her wrist.

The one that lights an entire room with her presence.

The woman that was there for me even if I wasn't there for her.

The woman that is with me at my darkest.

The woman that... I can't have.

Tony's thoughts were interrupted by a voice calling Y/N's name.

A voice that he begun hating.

Steve's.

''Y/N! Where are you honey?" Steve called.

''I'm in the living room!'' Y/n yelled back.

Not long after, Steve walked in the living room, bending over the back of the armchair and kissing her cheek. Acting like Tony wasn't there at all.

''Come on. Sharon's gonna help us plan the wedding'' he said and Y/N sat up.

''Alright. Coming'' Y/n smiled, and the two of them walked to the kitchen.

Tony watched the scene in disgust.

After they left, he sat straight on the couch and ran a hand over his face and sighed.

It was over.

Natasha saw the whole scene too, for she was just walking in the living room.

She saw the pain on Tony's face... she saw how destroyed he was.

But there was nothing left to do...

---

Y/N married Steve the next week, in a beautiful spring day.

Tony was Steve's best man, only at Y/N's request.

Otherwise, Tony wouldn't have even been there.

He did it for her. He had to watch the love of life marrying someone else. He had to watch her agreeing to spend the rest of her life with the man he started to hate.

He wanted to say something, to interrupt the wedding, and confess his feelings, but Y/N looked so happy... he couldn't do that.

He wanted her to be happy, he wanted the best for her.

But she wasn't happy at all.

She was wearing a fake smile.
